Missing college student in the Dominican Republic from Ashburn

Sheesh..take up the job in DR to look into this. Wouldn't trained authorities have already tried to find others who were hanging out at the bar that early morning per that video? You don't know what took place prior to the only video you can reference now, nor the conditions of the people and those around them.

No reason to suspect him - he wouldn't poison his own drink. But unless video is uncovered of someone tampering with the alcohol, I think this theory is done.

Possible. But I was in a sorority in college and blackout drinking and vomiting was honestly pretty normal — especially on spring break. It’s obviously disgusting to think about now but at 18 to 21 it was far from uncommon.

But looking at a sample of all the people at the bar, we see 2 vomiting. It would not be surprising that a petite TJ/pre-med girl would be more affected by alcohol than average 20 year olds. But that the big burly white dude from Iowa/Minnesota? Doesn't make sense for him got be getting sick before every other person at the bar. Thus, the tainted drink theory.

You have no idea how much he drank prior to that. Maybe he did 10 shots and his friends only did 2. Maybe he beer bonged 10 beers. So many things could factor into this. Just because only 2 of them puked doesn't mean they were drugged. Maybe they were just $hit faced drunk. Which clearly they were.

The parents, overwhelmed with grief and sorrow, asked what the fastest way forward would be-how do we make this stop-we do not want a prolonged search.

Someone - an investigator, an attorney, a trusted family member or maybe a combination of all counseled the family that they should immediately return home, declare her dead and with parent permission, all investigations will cease.

That was a serial killer. Why in the world would you even connect those crimes to this?

Because the boy allegedly claims he saved her when they were both nearly drowning and the last he saw her she was on the beach with him? If that's true, maybe some local men pounded in her in a solo drunken state. Who the hell knows! But it sounds like that wasn't even considered a possibility, because obviously it's better for business to point the finger at an American boy.

My in-laws just returned from a DR vacation and they said the entire place felt super sketchy and Third World. I have no interest in ever going there.

This is not chatting. It's concocting inane what if scenarios.

Yours was absurd. Others are talking about most likely scenarios.

May she rest in peace. But as a lesson to all young kids. Trouble is everyone and you can can find it any time if you look for it. The bottom line, if you look for trouble you will certainly find it. Therefore, when it comes to strangers, parties, travel overseas , night time you need to be very alert because someone is watching you. And if you are not careful, they will come at you. Plain and simple.

It is possible some killer got her but she also made herself easy prey by going at night in DR and heavy on alcohol. What else could she expect from this mix.

You don't know if it was considered a possibility. Not everything has or will be reported

People this naive bring down the thread.

The primary source of legit income in DR is tourism. Illegit is drug and people trafficking. Both are protected. No official wants to conflate them in the minds of potential tourists.

You don’t seem to like the thread, why not skip it?

Why get dopamine from playing hall monitor?

Go for a walk and enjoy the sun. You will feel better.

Many posters on here have questioned that resort. German tourists were reported to have drowned during the day a few months ago at or around same beach. A few of the bodies were recovered. Were autopsies done on the bodies? Did German authorities or tourists' families pursue further? Did those tourists drink at the same lobby bar? Or any alcohol at that resort and then go in ocean? No snark, could those tourists have also been "drugged" or had "spiked" drinks at same resort?
