This is the absolute truth. It's a tiny minority of Americans who realize how close it was.

And the even scarier part is the number of people who wouldn’t have been upset about losing our Republic.

Americans have the shortest attention span. Now Virginians are about to elect a Trumpy - just because MacAuliffe made a stupid comment in a debate. I’m ticked at people from Virginia who aren’t holding the Republicans accountable for their horrible, horrible actions over the past five years. Come on, Virginia, hold the line and show Republicans that they can’t win elections until they disavow the sedition.

The Virginia race is close but despite what the media is saying Glen Youngkin will not win. McCauliffe is ahead in the polls similar to Northam was (1 to 3%) and Northam ended up winning by 9%.

Results from 2017:

The 2017 polls showed the race being far closer than reality. These numbers are similar today for Youngkin.

Yes that's right. It will be a landslide for McCauliffe. No need to vote in this one, stay home and safe away from the COVID infested unvaxxed R voters who might slither to the polls.

Thanks for posting this. Makes me feel better but I still hope and pray people show up to vote against Youngkin.

The threat still exists. That was just the first attempt.

Some might argue that the first attempt, at least in recent years, was the 2019 impeachment that in retrospect looks like it was based on the flimsiest of grounds. There was something about a phone call and a whistleblower, basically a lot of inside baseball in DC resulting in an attempted overturning of a National election.

Flimsiest grounds? Trump literally used the power of his presidency for personal gain.

The BBC says Trump lost 700 million in wealth while president.

It was all paper BS. He doesn't own very many properties, and was garnering income by licensing his name. The proerties he does own were laundered money, like the golf course in Scottland. He sn't reaally a billionaire, despite the veneer propagated on The Apprentice.

Crickets from the right.

This is a major advancement in the story around 1/6.

This story is not going to get better for the GOP...not for the US Representatives identified in the story, not for the former Administration officials identified in the story, not for the event organizers, not for the legal teams challenging the results, not for the militia members who haven't already pleaded and not for the rank and file House and Senate members who have been gaslighting and covering for the "perpa-traitors." It also will get ugly with the Russian amplification of the insurrectionists messages are tied together, thus making it a foreign war against the US government.

This is going to be a drip drip drip for the coming months and the results from a legal and political standpoint are not going to be pretty.

The Trump administration and his right-wing cronies in Congress are traitors to the United States. I have no problem with people who have differences of opinion than mine, as much as I hate and disagree with many GOP policies. But the recent Republican party in power are conning, brainwashing, lying, and doing everything at their disposal to hold on to their power through illegal means. It is absolutely dispicable and something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime. It is truly a threat to our democracy. And it just keeps coming. Where are the moral, ethical men and women in leadership?

And it is more than just Trump. His lies started with stupid stuff like the size of the crowd at his inauguration. I thought there were honest people in power who would stand up to his lies and bullshit as time went by, and they became more serious. But it's beyond disappointing than many (most?) of them just went along with him and looked the other way or fully aided him to keep him and themselves in power. The 61 lawsuits on certain states' elections, the attempted overturning of the electoral votes on January 6, the continued denial that they lost the election. It is just so, so disappointing and sad.

You need to read the Authoritarian Playbook to understand how the boiling pot with frogs works to take over an otherwise democratic country.

Worse, the Republican frogs are actually excited about the growing temperature and want someone to turn up the heat. Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid traitors.

Very well written, thank you. This summarizes exactly how I feel, but I would not have been able to voice it so succinctly.

This dovetails nicely with Condoleeza Rice’s comment a couple of days ago saying we need to move on from January 6. All Republicans are complicit. Meanwhile most here are nattering about the price of Starbucks. Morons.

This delay

led directly to Ashli Babbitt's death. Maybe Gosar needs to be held accountable.
