Private & Independent Schools
| Seriously. Is it possible. We're applying again this year and I'm very discouraged. |
| It's always possible. But maybe you should ask yourself why it's so important that your kid go to an "elite" school. |
| Possible, but the odds are low. Go into it with a realistic understanding of your odds. |
| I know we're all being sarcastic but it's all too true isn't it. |
| Give it your best shot. We were in the same boat and my children got into three elite schools. |
| If these schools don't want your kids, why would you want your kids to go to them? Seriously! There are a lot of good schools in this area. |
|
I didn't even tour the top three. Frankly, I am SO SICK of them being talked about on these boards, I didn't even want to go. I know these are great schools with amazing teachers and beautiful kids, but really. Enough already. I do not swim in those ponds, I KNOW I cannot hack it. So why pay and fight and scratch and beg just to apply? They are JUST SCHOOLS and while it is important to send your kid to the RIGHT school, there are SO MANY more than three. Does everything think that these schools will deliver some kind of perfection? Ugh.
Flame away, but there are so many lovely schools around here, if I see one more post about how to get into Sidwell/GDS/Maret I am going to vomit. Get a life people. |
| The change in administrations will make it almost impossible for your average, by DC standards, family. The Limousine Liberals coming back to roost will be taking up our slots. If in fact that Obama girls go to a private school, that will only increase the flood of applications not only to that school, but the other two or three elites in town. Might as well just save your money on the application fee, take the family out to Clydes for a nice dinner, and see it as a blessing in disguise. Public school, you will soon find, is the smartest way to go these days. |
| Bitter much? |
| That may be true. Private school admissions will be very tight this year with the Dems coming to town. |
Don't be hoodwinked. Average families go to private school. |
| Our child attends a hidden-gem private. Not a top 3 but tough to get into - we were accepted and trust me, we are absolute nobodies. Seriously, NOBODIES. We know no one interesting or important and our child was accepted. Open your eyes and look for the hidden-gems, you'll be pleased. |
You can always choose not to read threads with "big three" or similar themes in the title. |
|
19:47, you have made an interesting point that you may not even realize.
Families who go to elite 3 private schools do not eat at Clyde's. It's a "chain restaurant." |

I think you could
cos probably some republicans will be leaving town... seriously tho, with the changing of the guard, won't slots OPEN up too? |
