Soccer
Someone that wants GY probabaly told you that. Instead of making things so difficult just add a rule to SY 8/1-7/31 that all players must play on a team thats their grade. Then leave u18/19 as it already is and everything works out. |
The grade clause isn't allowed. |
Its 100% allowed |
It was my son’s coach and he did not mention grad year? Only that ECNL was breaking players up into 3 age groups. They want younger players not being recruited to play more cups than showcases. |
Regardless what or what doesn't happen, the best thing I feel is younger teams do need to play in cup or knockout style tournaments. Everyone playing in just showcases and nobody knows how to win anymore. |
Grades not defined and not part of registration in youth club soccer, https://www.ussoccer.com/ecosystem-review/player-registration. |
your link doesn't work |
If that does get implemented there’s a good chance ECNL does grad year for sophomores, juniors, seniors. |
No this would piss parents off but beyond that it would mean less money for clubs and put them on par with HS soccer. |
Call me out, but I'm glad my team wants to actually win on match day. I only support this because the practices are intense and preach the same mentality. My kid has grown a ton in this environment although I realize it's not for everyone. |
What would we call you out for? Are most ECNL environments not competitive? Are you agreeing or disagreeing with the fact ECNL younger age groups might play cups rather than showcases? |
What doesn’t piss parents off at this point? But I doubt they would have GY for any year other than senior year so all kids have the ability to play. |
I don’t think that’s true? Less money for clubs? The majority of club soccer is just for fun with no real care of wins or losses. The top leagues parents are the only ones who would care of enough to complain and even then if ECNL is still top girls league parents will keep their mouths shut so they don’t lose their spot out of fear of retaliation. Just like on the boys side for MLSN with biobanding and having kids from older age groups play down. The only people this pisses off are the people whose kids lost their spots. |
| Make club like high school. 4 years That would be awesome.. haha |
In HS, nobody wants to play down. Junior will not want to play in Frosh team. Senior will not want to play in JV team. I never understand why people pay to let their kids to play down in the younger group for what? Bragging rights? |
