Ok, this doesn't quite belong here but I don't think it really fits perfectly in any of the forums...
My husband and I are in the process of buying new furniture for a new house -- quite a bit of furniture in fact. We went to one store this weekend and wound up purchasing a custom couch and a lamp. I went to the restroom during the payment process and when I came back I saw that the bill of sale was printed out as "Mrs. Husband's Last Name". Which doesn't happen to be my last name. I made a light-hearted joke about "Who is Mrs. X?" and the salesperson said "Your husband told me your name but I told him he shouldn't be having any of that -- you need to be Mrs. Husband's Last Name!" Um, no. I restated my name, said that's how I want to be addressed, and left it at that. I had to email the guy this morning to finish up our order (pick out a fabric) and signed it "My First Name My Last Name". He just emailed back addressing me three times as "Mrs. Husband's Last Name". Granted he put in an "LOL", so I assume he still thinks this shit is funny. Question -- is this manager worthy? Just seems so obnoxious! |
| No. Because if you elevate it to a manager, you become a raging feminist cunt. You can't win this. |
| He's being a jackass and they work on commission so I would call the manager, you shouldnt have to pay him to be an ass hat |
| Oh gosh, really? The manager? Yes, it was obnoxious but just let it go. |

OP here -- definitely not a troll, feel free to ask Jeff to check, I post here quite often.
And to 15:55, this is why I asked -- I am peeved about it but definitely don't have perspective at this point...I found the guy obnoxious for other reasons. He was checking out female customers and commenting to my husband about them and also made some comment about a "homosexual" touching him. It was just a weird encounter. |
| I would have canceled the order telling him he is very inappropriate and you will not be working with him again. |
If it were just the husband's last name issue, I would assume he is just kidding. Given this additional information I would cancel my order and shop elsewhere. I would also email the manager after I had my refund in hand. |
| +1 this is ridiculous and he should not be working with the public -- it will hurt the store |
| Yeah, he is an ass and as a salesman should know better. Let the manager know about all of it. |
| Cancel your order. |
| Email the manager about all the inappropriate comments the salesperson made. Just be factual. |
This. It's unprofessional of the salesperson. |
| Yes, it's annoying. Yes, he's certainly the type of employee who is bad for business. But is this really worth calling the manager about? Don't you have better things to do with your time? If the salesman is as obnoxious as he seems, he won't last any way. I'd let it go- this definitely falls in the category of something not worth getting worked up about. |
I own a store and if one of my employees were talking this way to a customer, about ANY of the things you mentioned, I would absolutely want to know right away. I do not want bigots working for me, being around me, being supported by me, or representing me or my store. Please let the manager AND owner know. |
