Furniture salesperson -- Redecorating Drama!

If you like the couch I would keep the order but file a complaint so this salesperson is reprimanded and does not get any commission from your sale.

And to 15:55, this is why I asked -- I am peeved about it but definitely don't have perspective at this point...I found the guy obnoxious for other reasons. He was checking out female customers and commenting to my husband about them and also made some comment about a "homosexual" touching him. It was just a weird encounter.

I own a store and if one of my employees were talking this way to a customer, about ANY of the things you mentioned, I would absolutely want to know right away. I do not want bigots working for me, being around me, being supported by me, or representing me or my store. Please let the manager AND owner know.

The management has spoken.

Sometimes people WANT to document all the BS a troublesome employee does so they can fire them.

Are you the same raging self-rightous asshole who keeps telling all the SAHMs to get a job? Even if not, you really need to be less bitter and chill.

I would cancel the order and tell the manager why. He had a chance to apologize and he instead doubled down. No way would I give this guy a commission.

Definitely contact the management and let them know about this salesman's disrespectful attitude.

Lol she will use her last name and it won't be canceled

the guy is annoying because he works AT AN EFFING FURNITURE STORE. Let it go this once. Don't be the person that gets this schlep fired from maybe the shittiest job ever.

Don't cancel your order, but threaten to cancel it and get another 10-20% off your order when you complain to management.

Then post a nasty review on Yelp. That usually gets the store's attention.

Just a warning that i dealt with an extremely obnoxious furniture salesman at a place in Arlington a couple of years ago, decided to just let his annoying behaviour go, and then he screwed me on a return. A costly mistake.

This guy has dug his own hole. He deserves to be called out on his attitude.

Exactly this.

OP, so many people are telling you to cancel the order. Do it. Don't tacitly send this guy the message that he can act like this to a customer who is PAYING HIM COMMISSION.

My husband and I are in the process of buying new furniture for a new house -- quite a bit of furniture in fact. We went to one store this weekend and wound up purchasing a custom couch and a lamp. I went to the restroom during the payment process and when I came back I saw that the bill of sale was printed out as "Mrs. Husband's Last Name". Which doesn't happen to be my last name. I made a light-hearted joke about "Who is Mrs. X?" and the salesperson said "Your husband told me your name but I told him he shouldn't be having any of that -- you need to be Mrs. Husband's Last Name!"

Um, no. I restated my name, said that's how I want to be addressed, and left it at that.

I had to email the guy this morning to finish up our order (pick out a fabric) and signed it "My First Name My Last Name". He just emailed back addressing me three times as "Mrs. Husband's Last Name". Granted he put in an "LOL", so I assume he still thinks this shit is funny.

Question -- is this manager worthy? Just seems so obnoxious!

Did you by chance smile and laugh when making your request about your name? If so, he may have thought you were joking round?

Yes, I would cancel the order and go elsewhere. Not necessarily because of the name but because the guy's behavior is obnoxious and if there is a problem or issue with your order you will continue to have to deal with his obnoxious behavior and why deal with that stress?

OP, it speaks volumes about you, and your character, that you are more upset about the name issue than about salesman making a derogatory remark about gay people.

Manager here. Please do this OP. Most employees will not engage in obnoxious behavior in front of me. I rely on others to help build a case of evidence.
