Help me! This is for an outdoor wedding next month.
Belt? No belt? What kind of belt? Is the neckline too busy for a necklace? If I go with the orange necklace, should something else be orange too, like my nails or a clutch? Thank you! |
| No belt or necklace. That said, do you have any other options? I don't think that this dress is doing much for you.. You need something a little longer. Also, it goes in at an odd place under the bust.. I just don't love the dress. |
| Don't go with orange with a lace dress, please. Stick to soft colors like nudes and pinks for your shoes, accessories, and nails/makeup. Keep your jewelry simple- do you have any nice pearl items? I also vote no belt. |
| I'd get a different dress, sorry, but it's just blah. |
|
No belt. Don't love the necklace, either--the color gets lost against your skin, and the length is too long for the neckline of this dress.
If you like bold styles, go with bright reds--shoes, necklace, lipstick. If you are a more conservative dresser, silver shades, pale blues, or possibly a turquoise accent. |
|
No belt, bright cardigan and fun shoes - like bright flats.
|
| No belt, shoes are okay but a little dull. I'd skip the necklace and do sparkly drop earrings in silver or gold. If you opt for a necklace I'd choose something shorter (not hitting dress neckline) and with more contrast with your skin tone. The orange tones blend in too much. |
| I guess I am in the minority here, but I really liked the belt! |
Sigh, it's so hard to find a cocktail dress with legit sleeves. |
I agree. The point is to cover the dress and draw the eye away from it. The bright cardigan and shoes will do that. |
| I like the belt, too. |
|
Pearls are ideal, of course. Lace is already fussy by itself so keep the rest very simple (no belt). I agree that any added colors should be soft and classic, like rose or turquoise, because lace is thought of as feminine and classic. The shoes are fine. The dress hitting you above the knee is a good thing! It brings out the curve of your legs. Never wear something that hits exactly at a joint, it will emphasize the width of the joint itself (nobody wants large knees). |
| Yes to belt. Without the belt all the lace makes it look like a nightie. Color is good too, it will look darker in low light and will be nice contrast against your skin. Go for it! |
| I love the belt!!! |
| The length of the dress and the length of the sleeves is actually calling attention to your problem areas. If you went sleeveless or three quarter sleeve it would be better for you. Ditto shorter or knee length. The sleeve hits the largest part of your arm. Similarly, the empire waist makes you look shorter and plumper then you are, not longer and leaner. You are not this stocky. A sleeveless sheath would be much more flattering to you. |
