The question was do you, Enthusiastic Valor Parent, have kids who play for the top teams and therefore already know who their coaches next year will be? |
I don’t know if I’m responding to the same person or different persons. So once again, confronting someone’s logic is not the same as defending the club. I chose Valor because I recently moved to the area and it’s very close to the home games and practice venues. Pointing out fallacies of disgruntled parents’ rants doesn’t make me an “Enthusiastic Valor Parent”. I simply asked if other clubs identify all of their coaches, because I didn’t think all of them did. One parent responded that three other clubs did so. I then acknowledged that my assumption was wrong, and I wished them well at the other club. For that, I’m accused of being an employee or an “Enthusiastic Valor Parent”. Makes me wonder why I bother to indulge in debating logic with those who are illogical. To answer your question- no, I don’t know who the coaches will be for my children. Like many other parents, I think my kids are good enough to make top team. Unlike the delusional parents, I realize they are not as good as the top players in the top team. So it is possible they don’t make it. For that reason, I don’t know who their coaches will be. That won’t make me drive longer to the next club. But again, to each their own. |

Many other local clubs have posted their full coaching lists. Many other clubs are done with tryouts or mostly thru their ID sessions in lieu of tryouts.
If I was a Valor parent I would be wondering if there are any decent coaches still available to hire! |
When one parent claimed three other clubs listed all of the coaches, I didn’t question which clubs. Now another (or same parent) is claiming “many clubs”. I didn’t bother looking around much, but I do know (from hearing it from other parents) that Loudoun, McLean, GFR, VYS, and SYC are NOT done with their tryouts. Is this wrong? And, did all of these clubs list out all of their coaches? If not, are you wondering if those parents should worry about availabilities of “decent coaches”? |
| For a "parent" you sure do jump on here fast to heroically defend the soccer club your kids have played for...one season. Since you "recently" moved here. |

Wish they would just list their coaches already and make life easier/

Did I miss the coach survey?
On a scale of 0-10, rate your coach. |
I see you still don’t know the difference between pointing out flaws in parents’ arguments versus defending the club. So now you want to nitpick at something else that you seem to think you won a “gotcha” moment. “Recently” may be ambiguous. I’ve been in NoVA, but moved to the vicinity of Valor before the start of the 25-26 season. I’ve had my experience at another club. It’s not that different, except the parents are less whiny. At least, online. My motivation for being at Valor was clear. It is a short drive. Does that sound like I’m defending this club? |
They sent out a coach survey? |
I think the flaw in your logic is that people are making "arguments" that you think you are cleverly (??) defeating. The only person trying to argue is you. Other posters are making observations and comments. There is nothing to argue about! Its a fact that Valor hasn't posted their coach slate yet. If you love yourself some Valor, great. Everyone else hates Valor? Also great for you because your kids will easily get on to the top team and you can continue to enjoy whatever it is about Valor that you like (the short drive, apparently). |
I would never sign a contract for any travel sport not knowing who was coaching my player. This is thousands of dollars we are talking about. If a club won't say who's coaching no one should sign the contract no matter which club it is. To be fair, a lot of clubs haven't announced on social media every single teams' coach at this point. However, a quick email to the club after you get an offer will get you a name from most clubs. |
| I have never heard of offers and required contracts! for a team without a designated coach before hearing Valor did this. We have always known the coaches for all the teams in an age group before or at tryouts. 4 kids who have played soccer and other club sports.q |
| Why do they have such a hard time finding coaches compared to other orgs? Low pay? Difficult management? My kids have never played Valor so no dog in this fight-just curious. |
No insight into the reasons, but if you look at other ORG's they sometimes have one coach, coaching 4 teams. That's obv not possible and a placeholder. Hopefully they get released prior to tryouts. |
