any particular reason? There seemed to be a lot of push back when it was proposed recently...

I believe FCPS is moving toward a LLIV-heavy model, and adding AAP to all middle schools aligns with that model.

Or they will stop AAP centers altogether at the middle school level.

Likely! I've spoken to four school board reps and several administrators. Everyone is in favor of it.

And I have spoken to six school board reps and they are all opposed to it.

Seems like many parents are against it though. Last time I checked it was pushed back indefinitely because of this..

I'm the PP. I hope you are right. I'm personally against it, but I'm just reporting what I've heard.

You are right. Perhaps I am jaded, though, since parent opinion didn't matter one single bit in the reshuffling of kids from Hunters Woods, LA, or Haycock. I want my kids (rising 6th and 3rd) to attend our center MS, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm guessing unlikely, due in part to $$. The inequities across the district would need to be addressed as well, with some schools not having a critical mass of students that qualify. This issue was raised many times during the discussion. Once they figure that problem out, then I'm guessing they will march forward.

I hope it's unlikely. Our local middle school isn't very good, and also would not have enough qualified students, so it would be completely and unfairly diluted as a program. Our AAP center middle school is outstanding.

Unlikely, but there will be quite a few more- where it makes sense (like Cooper).

What does $$$ have to do with it? It costs to educate the AAP students wherever they are.
