| APE just put out a flow chart on APS' quarantine policy on APE's FB page. |
| Thank you! Has Swanson really not had any positive cases? It's not showing up on the graph page at all. |
| We opted in. Even my elementary age kid knows it is the right thing to do. Come on people. |
I also noticed that... I have to think that's not accurate, but who knows? On another note, we opted in and my kid was pulled and tested yesterday (Swanson). |
Nope. My kids will miss school when they are actually sick (not have virus particles in their nose from a virus their immune system successfully killed). I'm not going to try to find more ways for them to miss school after last year. |
| What does the "immunity" column mean in the close contacts when you're looking at "employee detail"? |
So true! I thought we were the only family not opting in, until I saw we're part of the 80%+ of families. So glad Arlington is starting to get away from the hysteria for a disease that is of less risk to kids than the ride in the car to school. |
It's not accurate. It's pulling from the qualtrics screener and not everyone is filling that in. There was a positive case at our ES and it's not showing up. |
| Testing shows what policies work and provides actual information for society to manage this illness which we will deal with for years. Real info, not just people’s untrained beliefs foisted around. |
Are you proposing we start testing people at school for the flu and other diseases that are similarly more dangerous than COVID is for kids? You're saying we should indefinitely test. No way. Best not to sign up for testing now to kill this crazy idea in its cradle. |
|
Given that the flu has been killing 10-30K people per year and Covid has been killing at least 10 and maybe 20 times that, seems suspect that you are using the flu as a comparative, when PP never mentioned the flu, and just said "this illness" i.e. clearly meaning covid.
But please continue with your parade of horribles designed to scare us all away from testing a disease that can be transmitted even when students are asymptomatic. Sometimes it seems like people just want Biden to fail, and covid to continue, so that The Other Guy will come back and they can frolic through the swamp again. Like, by any means necessary. It's weird and pathetic. |
really? is APS doing epidimological studies? Are they feeding data from this asymptomatic testing to the cdc? to research scientists? If the VDH had asked aps to serve as a test case for doing surveillance testing- and they were going to spend 3 months closely following all cases, tracking close contacts who got quarantined to see if they tested positive, see if there was ever any spread from these asymptomatic people, etc, and then adjust the quarantine time policies accordingly- by all means I would jump on board. But that's not what this is. This is a zach pope creation- a way to use up CARES act money that they have, a way to make people 'feel better' about being in school. Even if not a single person quarantined as a result of this surveillance testing program ended up with covid- they are not going to change the quarantine policy. Why? well at the most basic level- b/c that policy comes from VDH- aps doesn't have the power to change it. |
| My kindergartener was rested with 4 members of his class today. He got a sponge Bob sticker. It was the highlight of his day. He's had covid tests before and they haven't gone well, so this was huge. |
