Thread for Derek Chauvin trial watchers?

Prosecution should stop calling police experts that testify about training, as the Defense received points and weakened their arguments at cross examination. Police Chief Arradondo’s testimony set the highest bar and should have been enough.

His death was caused by multiple factors. Two people at Cup Foods who sensed something wasn't right. Rookie cops who couldn't get him in the car. Hardened cops. COVID. Meth, fentanyl, cigarettes. He said he couldn't breathe before Chauvin's knee was ever on him. What Chauvin did was not right, but GF was already dying.

Man, you people will tie yourselves into all kinds of knots to excuse this POS Chauvin. He must have just been pressing his knee softly into Floyd's neck. Almost a caress even.

Thoughts on Eric Nelson? He seems to be cutting into the Prosecution’s testimony.

It's amazing to me how people will contort themselves to defend a murderer just because he wore a badge. His own police colleagues are condemning his behavior, but you're just sure that it was totally justified.

A reasonable person’s view is not a contortion to defend a cop. It is just watching the testimony and forming an opinion.

Defense is going to say that drugs killed GF but trying to prove that Chauvin did not use excessive force, is not going to work. We all have eyes.

One can die of a heart attack within 5 minutes. He chose to take drugs, and he was a smoker which is a known hazard to lung and heart health. You can't discount that as not being a factor in his death. If he had not been on drugs, and if he had complied like McMillian was coaching him to do, the outcome may have been different.

I think this will weed out people becoming cops for the wrong reasons.

JMO-I like to believe people become cops for the right reasons and the environment, day to day stress changes them.

If he had NOT been on drugs, he still would have died with knee on his neck for 9 minutes. He doesn't deserve to be killed for having a panic attack about being shoved in a police cruiser.

He acted with reckless disregard for human life. He restricted GF airway long after he lay lifeless on the street. 2 other officers were holding him down. He was a threat to NO ONE. The outside limit of a human ability to survive without oxygen is 5 minutes (that is at the extreme end for a person with an extraordinary constitution). Chauvin held his knee on his neck for nearly DOUBLE that amount of time.

This is textbook 2nd degree murder-reckless disregard for human life.

Drug overdose, heart disease, COVID, panic adrenaline prior over dose ... Chauvin is only incidental to Floyd’s death. People don’t die of someone leaning on their shoulders unless they have many other problems. No cop can stop a heart attack.

Except his knee was not on Floyd’s neck.

Floyd’s face can be seen pinned down and pushed into the pavement by Chauvin’s knee, maybe he moved it towards the end for a brief few seconds. I also noticed a red trauma spot of Floyd’s left shoulder shown in the ambulance with his shirt off, further indicating the amount of pressure held on his upper body.

Kids have died in RTCs when being held in a prone position for too long. So he had risk factors including opioid addiction. Cops have an obligation to recognize that as a risk factor. Chauvin REFUSED to turn him on his side.

I'm guessing the multiple experts testifying is to hammer in that point to jurors.
