Anyone else?

What about some of the non-immersion schools such as ITDS, TR, SWW?

So it looks like list above has not changed with hybrid. 3 schools for real hybrid with IPL with teachers, not just a CARE classroom here and there.

LAMB should know by now if they are going hybrid or not by March 1st. What is it LAMB parents?

LAMB is going hybrid March 1, as long as they don't change their minds. They had said they'd only go to hybrid if DC got to Phase 2 numbers, and it looks like we will get there by March 1. They have sent instructions for pick-up and drop-off, and other things, so this seems like it is really happening. At the very least, they have done all of the planning and arrangements towards it. Notably, this planning has been going on for a loooooong time.

In my kid's class, it looks like 90% of kids chose hybrid. I don't know what the overall school numbers are (I haven't seen them released, but maybe they were).

Apparently some teachers will still be home, and kids will be in the school with teacher aids (and the teacher zooming in). But it is Montessori, so a different mode of instruction generally.

This doesn’t sound like hybrid to me but more CARES like if the teacher is zooming in via DL. Aids being with the kids is the CARES set up.

No clue how you make this set up in relation to Montessori.

Most classes will have hybrid with the actual teachers. This CARES type set up may be an exception for a teacher who would still not be able to come in, I hope? Most teachers and staff are getting their second vaccine dose this week. However, there is additionally a CARES type setup that's been in place since fall for a select group of kids, 4 days/week.

I am starting to feel very lucky that they decided to do it this way, and everyone who wanted in person was able to get it in some way, instead of some type of selection process.

I mean, the teacher aids will be in the class, with the teacher on zoom, which I guess is better than monitors who don’t know anything about teaching (like what seems to be true for CARES classrooms in DCPS).

Also, Montessori set-ups involve less looking at a teacher who is instructing. Who knows what it’ll actually look like, though.

I admit that I don’t understand why the teacher won’t be in person, given the fact that the school said that all teachers going in would be vaccinated with second doses by March 1.

If I was a LAMB parent, I would ask the school how many classes in each grade has the teacher on DL zooming in. What is the breakdown?

I’m surprised that parents have not asked this important question. Admin should know that. Example 20 vs 80% is a huge difference.

Also does LAMB even have aids in the upper grades? Most school don’t so then if the teacher is not coming in, who is supervising?

LOL. Yeah they might have that info, but getting it from them is very unlikely to happen. It’s not like I can do anything with that info, anyway.

Look, I’m hoping for the best. It’s been a tough year. I won’t be pleased with this type of set up for Fall, 2021, and will likely just go IB if IB is offering something better. Mostly I feel dejected and hopeless.

Stokes parent here and 💯 feel the same. Just so defeated at this point. I still can’t come to terms with the reality that my lower ES kid will have had NO IPL for 14 months and the best they can offer in fall 2021 is a complicated hybrid where kids are in school 1 out every 3 weeks. 😢 We are seriously looking elsewhere but our child love language immersion. Do these schools really think this is the best way to serve students?

Has Stokes said that is what they plan to offer in the fall?

The only thing really to do go elsewhere or otherwise take your kid's education on yourself. I get that the charters have no reason to appeal to parents.

To be fair, they did say they could do full IPL in the fall if OSSE relaxes their social distancing requirements. I'm hoping that will be the case with cases dropping.

Wow they *said* that? Amazing. I'm surprised they made any sort of half-hearted commitment.

We get a lot of silence or hand-wringing about variants.

Same. Thats Saran Wrap level transparency compared to what we’ve heard at our HRCS.

I mean they obviously didn't promise anything, but they showed the scenarios for fall based on no SD requirement, 3 feet, or 6 feet and these included varying amounts of hybrid and full IPL.

Are you the Stokes parent on Twitter threatening Bowser from withdrawing from your “inbound” school and going private if she doesn’t open schools for all students immediately? Cause that parent needs to stop lying. I’d put her name (as it’s her Twitter handle) but I’m sure to get an immediate delete

That meeting deflated us, especially after they talked about 18 kids in each building by March with the possibility of hybrid in the fall. They would not commit to any scenario.

An hour later, we got an email from Basis talking about in-person school for all 5th graders with in-person teachers five days a week starting in March.

The next day, we made a couple out of bounds DCPS lottery selections for our younger kids.
