The Karen meme silences White women

Anonymous
Nope.

It's obtuse literally to say "tell me I'm wrong" when they are wrong, and then be surprised by the answer.

It's hyperbolic to to say responding on an anonymous forum is "tracked them down hunger games style."

It's misogynistic to continue in implying that women's only value, or worth, or currency, is in being sexually attractive. That is what you are going with? That is misogyny. Look at yourself.

George Floyd was just buried 2 days ago, and you already have George Floyd fatigue.

Not so much George himself, but the 24/7 bombardment on media and social media, the shaming, the outrage, the namecalling and finger pointing, and the silencing. And this is after 3 months of the same on the topic of COVID.

I understand that it might seem like months or maybe years to you, but the police officers killed George Floyd on May 25.

And how fatigued do you think the oppressed are? Or the medical workers and essential personnel? Sorry your social media feeds aren’t highlighting American pies to bake. Just sign off. We are all fatigued but we have to toughen up buttercup.

OMG the troll is still at it. Shut up troll. Go wax your bow or whatever they use in hunger games.

Maybe you need to toughen up and make something of yourself. The only people oppressed are the illegal immigrants who are being held in cages right now. But, they don't count? Right?

You could, you know, respond to the points raised.

Or just go with the insults. Either way.

Re:
There is a HUGE difference between social currency and value contribution. You are talking about valuable contributions vs the social currency demonstrated through institutionalize norms.

Anonymous wrote:Okay. So what's your working definition of "social currency," if that is what you think should be the focus?

Still waiting on an answer to this.

PP I had to step away right after I posted, but I’ll come back to explain more thoroughly. Liken it to how everyone values currency in an economy, vs the value of an item you can buy with that currency. The system here in the US (and much of the world) has taken a lot of intentional work to place women in a position where they were even allowed to offer value, that has increased their social currency. It’s the attitude towards women vs the value (which can vary person to person). It’s a $1 and we all trade it as a $1. That $1 can get you chewing gum, or are to later security. But it’s $1. Not 1.15 or .75

Women don’t have the same social currency as men

Distracted by children and work so will circle back, don’t want to rush and cause confusion around what I’m trying to convey, there may be a better analogy

Anonymous wrote:Yeah no. I reported a black lady for stealing from trader joes last week. She was shoving things into her bag and I asked he if she was going to pay for that. She started yelling and filming. Trader joes intervened and called the police. When someone is doing something wrong I don’t care what color you are, I’m speaking up.

And you never paused to think that maybe she is hungry? Or offer to pay for her food? Why do people steal food? Just for fun, right?

This person did the right thing in reporting, don't let the PP shame you for reporting a CRIME

If it’s a minority they’re hungry and you should leave them alone. Haven’t you learned? Excuse their behavior! If you are white jax report and actual crime by a minority then you are the asshole. So stupid.

I saw a lady putting some boxes into her coat. I did not report her. Can't remember her skin color. What makes one person report some one stealing groceries and makes the other turn the blind eye?

The person who reported the crime has a moral compass? Maybe you need glasses.

I'm not asking for an analogy, but a definition of the term.

I'm interested in a definition of "social currency" that does not include the components of the prior discussion, but I am happy to wait. No rush.

Not PP, but you don't know what you're talking about. When was the last time you offered to buy somebody's food in a grocery store? BTDT. I offered somebody money who was stealing in the grocery store and he started screaming at me. Nobody wants a white savior to come rescue them at TJ.

I offered and paid many times. Do not presume to lecture me. I have also offered it and paid many times back in my home country and I have done many thing you would never dream of doing. Hunger is humble, hunger is everywhere. Stop and ask how many people in MC suburban areas do not have a range that works and have no money to fix it. Ask how many of your kids' friends do not invite your kid over, and why? Maybe they are freezing, maybe electricity is out? There is only one reason a middle aged woman is stealing food, only one if she is not mentally ill. Either way, not your business. TJ can take the hit.
As for TJ, you are not the justice league at TJ's. TJ has its own security. Mind your own dang business and leave people alone.

Mind your own business and let people steal. Ok

Indeed, you finally got it. Mind your own gosh danged business, busy bodies like you ruin lives. Instead of her coming home with some pasta, her kids went hungry and had to come up with the money to bail her. What a justice warrior you are.

Clearly you like to steal. Nice.

e.g., "Social currency is a popular term that has not been around for long. It is understood as all the existing and potential resources which arise from the presence of social networks and communities – either online or offline."

Good. We’ve all heard more than enough from white women.

The only social currency white women have is their sexual attraction to men. When that goes, society wants to push them off on an ice flow. Since we can't do that, we tell them to STFU and stand quietly in the corner where their aging body and appearance won't offend anyone's eyeballs.

Tell me I'm wrong.

+1
This is it.

I think this is true to all middle aged women. Why just white? Do people care more about middle aged black woken or middle aged Asian women? ALL women, once past the prime of their attractiveness are less heard

The Karen meme is directed towards white women, but I agree with you 100%.

New poster. I agree about middle-aged women.

But it's funny, two guys were trying to break into my car when I happened to walk outside my house. It was about two weeks ago. I didn't call the police. I didn't want to be a Karen.

But they walked up my block and broke into someone else's car fifteen minutes later. I should have called.

If people are breaking into your car, it is not Karening to call the police.

It is Karening if you call the police because a black person is walking in your neighborhood and you think they might be planning to break into cars. It is Kare omg if you see a black person get into a car and you think the car might not belong to him because it’s a nice car.

I was called a Karen up thread for reporting a shoplifter at trader joes, so maybe we need flash cards to know when it’s okay to report a crime.

Fvck you.

Posts like yours literally get Trump votes.

I voted Obama twice and democrat every time until things went too far left. I voted Trump last time and I’ll vote Trump again. Keep calling me Karen, I don’t care. I’ll keep quiet, look over my shoulder, and then when no one is watching I’ll tick that Trump box. No one knows I voted Trump. It’s quiet people like me you should worry about. You know about the Karen’s. They’re loud and you see them. I’m silent Cindy. There’s lots of us. You won’t know us to see us, but we are here and we will tick that Trump box a second time.
