US soccer rumors of changing back age groups?

Don't be so sure. It's the better system and there are a lot of advocates for it.

One of the problems is that every state has different school cut-off dates. So no matter what you choose, there are always going to be kids that are not in the "right" age group for their school year. Even the 8/1-7/31 doesn't correctly capture the cut-off date in NOVA, which is 9/30.

Agree, it should never have changed

I am glad it changed. This essentially blacked all the red shirter parents looking forward an edge. You has sometimes variations if almost two years in a grade. Now it is 12 months no matter where is is. Tired of parents who try every angle. I am sure they are still upset that they were had.

Sure they can. They can play in the Rec League.

US Soccer is currently deciding the best time to switch it back. They don't know if it will be 2021 or 2022 but they are going to do it. Reasons: I don't know but i am going to bet the lack of participation and the money being lost.

This is exciting news for 7 year old rec players who didn't need to follow birth year anyway.

I would hope kids would play up if it switches back.

It will be interesting for the December birthdays. DD loves her team, they do very well, but she is the only one one her team would would be effected. It's a small club and the teams a year below aren't very good, so I think we'd have to move on if she couldn't play up. I don't think our situation is unique. The first situation wreaked havoc with clubs like ours, this would too. Then again, I don't think US soccer cares about small clubs

Why would they play up? They don't like the they're on. They've always wanted to be the grade year team. :/

Wow this is not even an issue for anyone. Of all the things that need to change in travel soccer this is something that is not even in the top 100.
