I'm not convinced you're a Sanders supporter. I'm also not convinced you're a liberal. With Hillary, you know that you will get some of the things for which Bernie advocates. With Trump, a smart, thoughtful, intelligent person knows they get nothing for which Bernie adocates, and everything he doesn't. Just saying. |
Yes, and Trump has the same attitude regarding his companies that use foreign workers and outsource. PP's company is not doing anything different to what Trump does. Perhaps the leaders of the companies feel the same way Trump does about it -- "I shouldn't be able to do it, but I did." |
They might not have to worry. Apparently Mr Trump has a very short attention span and isn't able to focus on much that isn't about him. All they need to do is present the boring stuff first, and let it go on for 15 minutes or so without stroking his ego, and he'll get bored and tell them to go. |
Exactly He's cheering on cyberwarfare. yes, I get that you can't hack the server now. But saying "hey Russians, it's ok if you are engaging in this criminal activity as long as you can now turn around and possibly use it to my benefit" (gist of what he said) - that's not ok. And even pence and Ryan came out strongly against this nonsense. |
I can sympathize with those who just oppose Hillary for moral reasons. Say anti-abortion or pro- gun people. I disagree but I respect that.
What I don't understand is those who wanted A, B, and C, were offered A and B, and now are saying they don't want any of it. My 2 year old does that: he wants 3 candies, I offer one and he throws it on the floor in protest. And then he gets none. |
I'm pretty sure after GWB left office, the majority of Republicans were (and still technically are) very anti-NSA. "It's big government, they don't need to know about my affairs, stick it to The Man," etc.
And now, not only are Republicans excited about the potential HRC email scandal and urge the FBI to open more and more investigations (despite every single one not turning up anything damning), but they're also on board with Russia maybe having stolen classified American emails and want them to release them to the entire world because Trump suggested it? |
And in the meantime, there were apparently eight articles in the WP on the third day of the Democratic convention ........... seven of the eight was on Trump's call for Russia to release the emails that Clinton deleted if Russia did, in fact, have them.
Today, he was apparently on Fox saying that he was merely being sarcastic - whether he was or not. From Trump's standpoint "mission accomplished" because not one of his supporters are going to be fazed by what he said, even as he got hours of media coverage for free during the day and into the evening. Trump played the media ................. |
^^Oh, and he got Hillary's emails and the fact that she deleted 30,000 of them back in the news with all of the implications as to her honesty and trustworthiness which is her major hurdle with the electorate. |
Sooooo, is it presidential to joke about such a thing? I can't imagine any of our past presidents even joking about such a thing in a public setting. |
That answer is easy. People with a filter a FUN! They make great TV. They are the tactless uncle it's fun to watch at Thanksgiving. He says whatever the crap he wants. If he gets called on it, it's all "Oh, I was just kidding... .can't you take a joke?" It's amusing, until it is directed at you. People with no filter are a lot less fun to work with. They are even less fun to work with when they have a job in the public eye, where building relationships with others is important. |
I don't think the free media coverage played as well with independents and undecideds as you and he may have hoped. |
Most mature people understand that there is a time, place, subject matter to be funny. I am teaching my kids this. Trump hasn't learned this yet? |
I have no idea how it would have played with independents. But his moniker of "crooked Hillary" and referencing the private server and emails are meant to reinforce the distrust with which Clinton is viewed by almost 70% of the electorate. If she loses the election, it will be because she is so distrusted. In the meantime, the media (CNN) is still talking about Trump instead of yesterday's events at the convention. BTW, I am not a Trump supporter - would never vote for him - but I am at times in awe of how he is able to manipulate the media to get tens of millions of dollars of free publicity. I know those who dislike him can't see beyond that dislike. |
This latest turn of events is just ludicrous. Make America great again... by getting in bed with Russia? A massive eyeroll to that. |
He knows how to spin the media, and get himself out there. He's been doing it for a long time. It's funny, though, he claims he hates the media but he always courts them. |
