All this to say US youth soccer is dominated by a pay-to-play system?

Shiver me timbers!
This is indeed breaking eye-opening news

Exactly. Money and blind ambition on the part of parents have ruined youth sports. You get what you seem to be desperate to pay for.

If you don't have ambitions and aren't desperate, where can you play travel club soccer for free?

How does that travel club soccer kool-aid taste?

You're either in rec or travel

NP - delicious. It might actually shock you, but it's pretty cheap compared to most other sports these days.

Not even a fair comparison. Do you know what an ED makes running a travel hockey team? Not even close to six figures.

When did it become okay to become wealthy off the backs of children just trying to make a team?

$384k is not wealthy in this area. He/she is possibly underpaid given the logistics they have to a manage in similar sized organizations.

You have organizations like Detroit Metro FC and others who are have built free academies. I am pretty sure the DCUM soccer base would reject the premise of these organizations so ASA and others are meeting the customer demands.

DP - you can LOL all you want, but this point has come up numerous times. That's not overpaid in this area for managing an organization of this size non-profit or not.

It absolutely is. Look at this thread. It is way more than equivalent clubs. And more than non-profit directors based in Alexandria (for national and international non-profits).
