Regime change takes a long time. It'll be hugely expensive and require a solid commitment to the country. It needs a serious, focused leader.

In other words, I think this is going to be a show of force, Trump's going to claim some sort of victory, and then it's going to be old news in a couple of weeks. As for the president, he'll be on to the shiny distraction elsewhere. Maybe in Greenland with those "medical ships." Who knows.

I mean, it was only Jan. 3 that the Trump department overthrew the Venezuela leadership, claimed a victory, but left the country mostly unchanged. At one point, Rubio was going to be leading Venezuela. Remember that?

And here we are, already doing another regime change when the last attempt was just a few weeks ago and did nothing.

This is just further proof that these people never had any real principles—political, ethical, moral or religious. The poorly educated among them are like cult members, unable to reason. Can you please stop calling people who voted for Trump names? You are playing into the stereotype of the lecturing, holier than tho Dem that voters disliked. People who voted for Trump bc they wanted change to the system are not stupid. It is just very unfortunate that:

1) Trump lied
2) the media fails to explicitly point out the lies (headlines should be reading “Trump starts an unauthorized, illegal war that he says will kill Americans”
3) Republican elected officials blindly sypport him bc they care more about tax and govt spending cuts than humans
4) the Dem party allowed Biden to run instead of pushing for an open primary to source and vet a candidate who would have had the time (and distance to either explain or denounce Biden policies) to campaign effectively against Trump.

I don’t blame Trump voters. It’s the system.

I appreciate the sentiment, but disagree. It just isn't true that it was the system of providing voters information that failed. Trump lied before, was caught in his lies, was convicted of crimes based on several of them, and all the people who didn't vote for him had access to information about him and understood who he really was, and there is not a single person who can claim that they could not possibly have accessed that same publicly available information -- and yet other people still voted for him. They either saw the information and chose to disregard it or they never bothered to inform themselves. Some admit they plugged their noses and voted for him; so they knew. They knew and chose him anyway. Same for people who chose not to vote at all: if you choose not to decide, you have chosen the one who won: Trump.

The only part of the electoral "system" we can blame for this is the part that allowed him to run again.
