Dear Families,
We would like to share an update on the boundary development process for Skyview High School. As a reminder, the School Board is scheduled to vote on Skyview’s boundary in June. In the meantime, we encourage your active participation in this important work. Below is an overview of the timeline and engagement opportunities: March – Kickoff Meeting We invite you to join our kickoff meeting, where we will outline what to expect, review criteria guiding boundary development, answer questions, and gather your input on key themes related to boundary planning. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Westfield High School. You may register to participate in person or via Zoom. Phase 1: April – Boundary Scenario Development FCPS’ consultant will develop three draft boundary scenarios (maps) based on established criteria and community feedback received during the kickoff meeting as well as previously collected feedback. Phase 2: Week of April 27 – Community Meetings The consultant will present the three draft scenarios for the Skyview boundary. Meeting participants will have an opportunity to provide feedback using the Boundary Explorer Tool. Additional details, including meeting dates and locations, will be shared soon. Phase 3: Late May – Community Meetings Revised boundary scenarios will be shared with the community for additional feedback. The consultant will use this input to further refine the maps in collaboration with FCPS leadership. Phase 4: June – Superintendent’s Recommendation FCPS’ superintendent will present a final recommendation to the School Board for consideration and action at a board meeting. Please note that dates are subject to change. Your feedback is essential, as we work together to develop a boundary that best serves our students, families, and the community. For more information, please visit the Skyview Boundary Development webpage. Sincerely, Fairfax County Public Schools |

March 24, 2026
Dear Families, As a reminder, FCPS is hosting a boundary study kickoff meeting for Skyview High School and our western pyramids on Wednesday, March 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Westfield High School. Western pyramids include Centreville, Chantilly, Oakton, South Lakes, and Westfield. Please register to participate in person or via Zoom. At the kickoff meeting, we will outline what to expect, review criteria guiding boundary development, answer questions, and gather your input on key themes related to boundary planning. The consultant will develop three draft boundary scenarios (maps) by integrating all community input—including feedback already gathered, results from the digital survey launching tomorrow, and any survey responses submitted during the subsequent two weeks. These draft maps are scheduled to be presented the week of April 27. Stay tuned for specific meeting details, which will be released in the coming days. Please visit the Skyview HS and Western Pyramids Boundary Study page to learn more about the boundary process. Sincerely, Fairfax County Public Schools |
| Skyview Mascot and Skyview School colors are coming soon as well! I believe this will be an internal vote by the attending kids (maybe parents as well). |
It’s sad that kids who’ll eventually be boundaried into the school, in some cases against their will, won’t get to make these decisions. |
They had the choice to opt in and participate. All of these choices were going to be made in the first year. |
The whole temporary opt-in approach is unfortunate. Maybe they should forget drawing boundaries and just have opt-ins. |
I predict colors will be blue, white and silver and in keeping with where technology is today the mascot will be a drone. There you have it the Skyview Drones. |
| If the current boundary is for South Lakes and if the student who lives closer to Skyview than South Lakes wants to attend Skyview, and if the parents are able to pickup drop off, is it even possible for the student to attend Skyview? |
Blue and white. |
Yes, at this point I think you need to contact Skyview to opt-in |
So does that mean people opt-in for Oakton high school when they live within other school boundaries? |
|
They'll pretend the survey of the students matters, but they will choose what they want, just like they did with the name of the school.
The mascot will probably be the Aviators. It possibly could be the Rockets, Astros, or Orbits. The colors will either be blue and white or blue and silver. |
Give it a shot |
So sad to see you keep on trying this. It will be a traditional school. Give it up, you lost. |
