We don’t really know what happened. It may have been outright negligence by failing to check for a heart beat. Or perhaps the heart start right before they began, suggesting they may have falsified the waiting time. If they did falsify the time, that wouldn’t be acceptable either.

Regardless, though, this absolutely doesn't mean she was going to survive. And in the end, she didn't. She wasn't going to survive off life support- it just took longer to die than typical. In other situations not involving transplants, similar spontaneous heart restarts would happen without anyone observing them.

You are medical mafia scum.

You're certainly free to opt-out of medical care.

That seems like the best outcome, all around.

This is idiotic, and anyone who considers this sexual assault is too.

These women are ALREADY UNDERGOING GYNECOLOGICAL SURGERY, of which a pelvic exam is 100% a standard part. This is not sexual in any way whatsoever, it is a medical exam. When you choose to obtain your care in a teaching hospital you implicitly consent to have learners involved in your care. If you don’t want that, don’t go there.

By your logic, anyone with a hand up your canal to deliver a baby is also committing sexual assault. That’s another situation where learners take part and the woman does not have to offer individual consent to every single member of the team to do the job she chose them to do.

You consent to the procedure and the place. You should know what is involved at the type of institution you choose for your surgery.

Frankly as everyone knows, an analogous process happens at every single surgery at every single teaching hospital: learners will also hold retractors, participate in your surgeries, wield scalpels and sew you up. You don’t consent to every one of those items. Medicine is not a spectator endeavor, and learning it isn’t either. If you don’t like it don’t go to a teaching hospital.
