No they aren’t saying that.

I just heard it on NBC news. I can’t find a news article yet.

Quoting myself. One of the NBC reporters said this on air yesterday and at that point I was surprised and posted my question. After that I never heard that claim again until today. I don't remember who the reporter was but they have a very good source inside the FBI. That said, this investigation and distribution of information has felt sloppy and disorganized. I know that news evolves quickly, especially as it's breaking but this feels extra messy.

I think the FBI agreed also since they sent a comms person from DC to the press conference today since yesterday’s was so confusing.

Not even president and Trump already put his foot in his mouth. The terrorist was US born and army veteran, NOT an immigrant.

Knock this crap off. There is nothing any president can do to stop someone from renting a truck and driving into a crowd of people. Trump couldn't have stopped him and Biden couldn't have stopped him. This is not productive to do this style of finger pointing. We need to understand what we as a nation are doing wrong where our own citizens turn on us like this, and until we figure that out it won't matter what party is in office.

1000 times no. It is absolutely productive to question to which threats our intelligence agencies like the FBI are devoting its resources and energy - political talking points or actual threats?

Far right and white supremacist groups are the biggest domestic terrorism threat. Not sure why you think this negates all of that.

The person who called it the biggest terror attack since 9/11 is an idiot.

Unclench yourself. It was just a telecom engineer working on the temporary cel receiver site in the parking lot. He had a bunch of tools and wanted to park next to the equipment shed. Being a nerd type, he didn’t realize it might not have been a good idea to drive on the sidewalk

They don't cover that in driver's ed. Remember kids, Don drive on the sidewalk.

He said it was the most lethal threat, not the only lethal threat.

Obviously white supremacists are NOT the most lethal threat, as we have now seen demonstrated what IS the most lethal threat.

I drive on sidewalks all the time. Have to, that’s where the work is. But there’s ways of doing it that don’t make you look like you’re up to something.

I mean what did we expect. How many US made / funded bombs have killed humans in the Middle East? That doesn’t window hearts and minds. In fact, it inspires hatred.

Sure.

But the tool they are using to manipulate people to commit acts of terrorism—including Americans like the this guy born and raised in the USA who murdered innocent people in NoLA—is religion…Islamic extremism specifically.

And they aren’t just doing it via corrupt religious leaders who live in the USA. They are also using TikTok and the internet.

Propaganda is real and it is also effective.

Hopefully an act of terrorism against the US will bring all of us together. This Red/Blue stuff driving a wedge between Americans is dangerous. The terrorists who hate America and the West are the ones we should worry about…together.

This. And also, this was on first look, the most unlikely person, born and raised in TX, 15 years of service in the armed forces, a likely decorated combat vet. Friends, family, real estate agent. His posts became increasingly religious, a friend said, but in a positive uplifting way, never saw it coming. This is sad… and very bad for all of us.

this guy was a wife beater and child abuser. It wasn’t a surprise to anyone who takes violence against women seriously. He was going to kill his family but was narcissistic enough to go out in a terrorist attack instead.

+1

All DV criminals should automatically be placed on watch lists for terrorism. It’s the one thing they always have in common.

Everyone is a potential domestic abuser. Really, when viewing through an equity lens, everyone should be on a terror watch list. If you only include some people, you’ll inevitably miss someone who will strike later. Therefore we should all be on a watch list.

The right wing is going hog wild with bogus conspiracy theories -

Claiming he's a "leftist" or claiming he crossed the border illegally, you name it...

Republicans shamefully lie nonstop. Anything to drive wedges in an attempt to score political points. They are so sleazy.

It's not just sleazy, it's utterly shameful, racist and harmful. They are entirely what's wrong with our country.

I think we have a former military turned radical problem. According to this article, they are radicalizing at a faster rate than the general population.

I sadly believe this...I know some former marines that are MAGA and with every passing year seem to become more and more extreme in their thoughts and beliefs. It's unsettling.

Wake up. This killer was ISIS not MAGA. Your attempts to politicize a terrorist attack are frankly disgusting.

Just because he has a "funny" name doesn't make him ISIS.

Bottom line, whether one is being radicalized in ISIS or MAGA, it is a problem for everyone else.

Of course name doesn’t make him ISIS, but if you read the news you would know he had a video message pledging allegiance to ISIS so indeed he was affiliated.

I doubt a black man from Texas was affiliated with ISIS besides in his own mind. He likely aligned himself with ISIS on his own accord. ISIS has bigger fish to fry these days, like running the new government of Syria under their new name, HTS

He has a Muslim name. A lot of black people are Muslim

Honestly, special agent nose ring told us it's not terrorism even though they've planted IEDs all over the place and have an ISIS flag flying from the back of the truck as they're driving over and shooting civilians.

If it was a MAGA flag, she would have said it' domestic right-wing terrorism before bullet casings hit the ground.

Should I care what the FBI says?? Really, should anyone??

+a million. The FBI has none, I mean absolutely ZERO, credibility. Zilch. Everything they say or do is either incompetent (at best), or an outright lie. The public should have no faith in them whatsoever.

There are no coincidences. Officials want to push back the superbowl. They are probably terrified someone will perpetrate a terror attack at the superbowl. Or they have intelligence that says that the sb is a target.

Yup. This can’t be said enough. They have no credibility at all.

Link to any officials saying this?
