I can make it political. The federal government declared that this act, which killed and injured dozens of innocent people, is not terrorism. Meanwhile, the federal government also recently declared the the death of one health insurance CEO is a vile act of terrorism for which they are pursuing the death penalty. The Biden Administration also recently commuted the death sentences of dozens of mass murderers. For the Biden administration, terrorism only occurs if the victim (just one) is a very rich man. How is not political?

It’s political because the political party that will soon be fully running our nation is a wholly owned subsidiary of the gun industry and the NRA. And they want to see stuff like this happening everywhere. They are fueled by spilled blood. They are literally satanic. Guns everywhere. Death everywhere. Live sacrificed to guns. Guns guns guns.

And yet this event and there that PP stated happened under (checks notes) the Biden administration.

This is Biden’s America.

Guns killing people isn’t political

It sure is political when you have a party in power trying to make sure there’s guns everywhere.

The big part of the story is people were killed by the truck. Two officers were also shot (and luckily seem to be stable).

No, the big part of the story is that gun nutters didn’t even wait 4 hours into 2025 before killing a crowd of people.

I think you meant car enthusiasts, since that was the weapon that killed people.

Maybe we should outlaw cars.

Cars have license plates and require a driver to be licensed. Let’s start there.

If I were pro unregulated second amendment (which I am not), I would be saying that if you want to limit guns you also have to limit cars cuz this guy killed/injured many more with his car.

Biden did not put all the conservative judges on the supreme court.

Car ownership is regulated; you have to get a license, renew it every so often and have insurance. One can get an unlicensed gun via private ownership; you are not required to renew your license nor get any insurance for it.

At minimum, the background check loopholes should be closed, and gun owners should be required to get insurance and renew the license to own every so often.

If only we were more like Europe this wouldn’t happen.

Did you really need to check notes…or are you just corny?

New York State charge Mangione with terrorism; the federal government did not - they charged him with stalking, murder with a firearm, and a firearm charge.

At the time of the New Orleans incident, the federal government probably did not have enough information at the time to call it terrorism; that may change once they have additional information.

And yet, you can easily drive and own a car without a license. Happens every day. Those that break the law don't worry about silly things like the rules.

Using that logic then why would anything at all ever be illegal?

I've prosecuted 100+ gun cases in my life. The proliferation of privately manufactured firearms and DIY gun kits has made regulation of the sale of firearms nearly impossible. We can and should still regulate the possession of firearms by prohibited persons (although a lot on the left don't like what this looks like in practice), but focusing on regulation at the point of sale is useless. We can't put the genie back in the bottle.

Ban trucks. Ban guns.

I just watched the early morning press conference. They explicitly stated it wasn’t terrorism. Seems early to make such a statement, especially given the fact police officers were shot and explosives were found.

Guns have serial numbers. Misuse of firearms is unlawful whether or not the owner is “licensed.”
