If TJ has such smart kids, why so much cheating?

Ruthless families cheat to get in. Why would it stop once their striver gets in?

A big answer is that parents have not taught and modeled integrity to their children. Honor is unheard of.

Import the corrupt third world, become the corrupt third world. America doesn't have magic dirt.

This is how racists justify the mediocre performance of their mediocre children.

America is absolutely magical, nowhere else in the world can the children of impoverished immigrants succeed to the point where they excite such envy and disdain from the affluent natives.

And since they put an end to the exam buying TJ is far less toxic.

I don't think it is any more or less toxic but it is definitely less stressful because there are so many mediocre students to fill up the bottom of the curve.

You should try it.
Maybe your kids wouldn't be so unimpressive if you were a better parent.
Think about the long arc of their life and not just their momentary happiness because you were a pushover parent.
Your children will not thank you as they live their mediocre lives of quiet desperation hoping they can continue to coast on their white privilege for just one more generation in a world that will increasingly stop worshipping the color of their skin.

China and India are going to come online in your children's lifetime and your children will begin to swap standard of living with the middle class in those countries. Either because the chinese and indian middle class will move here and crowd them out of all the middle class jobs or because the jobs will move there. Your children will wonder why they can't afford the things you could afford at their age and it's because you didn't prepare them for this world. Either way, they will end up with McJobs and it will be your fault because you looked down on tiger moms. For the sake of your children, get gud son.

External pressures motivation is not the same as inspiration.
Tigers raise mini-mes of who they wish they were. 8/10 will end up the same perceiving themselves as failures and projecting again into their children in a spiral of depression, aggression, divorce, suicide, and alienation.

No, only maybe 1/10. Mostly children of tigers assimilate and become regulars and raise their children like regulars. It's all good.

Oh no! You got it all wrong. Previously, these kids were totally mediocre and only got in because they had access to the test, but now they pick the top kids from all schools. It's much much MUCH better and less toxic!

The number of kids who are academically inspired without external encouragement approaches zero.
But you can teach your kids the value of education so they can motivate themselves.

If you are the still the source of the motivation in high school, you were tiger momming wrong.
Your goal is to help your child develop ability AND ambition.
They should be on autopilot by high school, needing you mostly for transportation.

And when you say tigers, you seem to be referring to the parents of kids at places like TJ but you should understand that culturally, almost all asian parents do this. Not because they all think their kids are going to harvard but because they know that even the C+ kid will have a measurably better life if they can become a B student.
