We were ok when RP was getting $150k for doing nothing.
But we are getting mad at NM for not doing anything when the announcement says he doesn’t start until 24-25. Can you confirm that he is getting paid at this time?
I believe he is still the director of DMV FC. You know the club that just beat RP’s beloved team by a touchdown.

I realize that the announcement said the DMV FC coaches and teams will be joining GFR in 24-25 but according to the GFR staff page at https://www.gfrsoccerclub.org/Default.aspx?tabid=1209808, NM is already the GFR TD (and ML is now the director of coaching). It says “per signed contract” so I would assume he’s getting paid now. I don’t fully understand how he juggles all of these different roles with MYS, DMV FC/TF and now GFR. But if that page is incorrect and he’s not currently acting as the GFR TD then it begs the question, who is?

GFR parent here - it’s a S*** show. Wild wild west of soccer. Morale is low. Coaching staff is all over the place (stretched thin per another comment is putting it mildly). Random parents are coaching RL teams! Club leads won't answer emails when parents are demanding answers for basic questions. Very messy, at least for the older players. Not sure if any of this is trickling down to the younger travel teams age groups. Next year is going to be interesting to say the least.

Parent of an older GFR player here, too, and I agree with all you’ve said! We need answers about the spring and for next year. And we need them now, RS!

Thought the same while reading, need to try a little harder next time RP.

As someone whose DC doesn't play for GFR, I feel like I've always heard that he was a good coach and well-liked but reading through this thread makes me wonder if I only heard one side of the story? Whatever happened, it must have been pretty bad for the club to fire a coach (and I thought he was more than that?) during the middle of the year.

Rado is a good coach. He is a good person. He got a raw deal.

There will always be players and parents that don’t like a coach, can’t do nothing about that.

His little GFR team 06 has committed 3 D1 players, 3 D3 players, helped players recover from ACL injuries, and helping one player pursue a pro career overseas…

He was in the process of doing the same for the 07 girls and like that… he was fired.

He organized a team trip to Spain…but he was a problem.. I think not

07’s won state cup, showcased well in Florida, what more do you want from a coach?

That’s consistent with what I was told, too. I’ve heard of soccer coaches doing all kinds of stuff that they shouldn’t have but it’s not often that you hear about someone getting fired mid-season. That certainly makes it seem like it must have been something pretty serious.

Yep, tons of the rumors with RP include that “key” phrase. Bottom line, you would have to be a fool to trust anyone who got fired mid-season, no matter how good the status.

Anyone know or understand why he had been terminated?

ECNL-RL GFR parent here. Totally disagree with above. GFR has been an excellent club. Must be on one of the teams that lost their fav coach. Get over it. It happens. Came to the right Internet forum because misery likes company and ever since the BRAVE no-one-gives-af-announcement came out, everyone here is miserable hating everything daily. 🤣. They should pass out tissue boxes at all the soccer sidelines at nova fields this season.

First, if you know which teams RP was coaching, then you know that the 05/06 team is mostly about to graduate. Some are going on to play in college or pursuing semi-pro opportunities abroad and others will be hanging up their cleats for good. Either way, this spring should have been a time for them and their club to celebrate the culmination of many years of playing soccer. Something all U18/19 players do. RP also coached the 07 team which is in the middle of recruiting right now. Having the coach of those age groups replaced mid-season has a big impact on those players (regardless of how you feel about the coach) but especially when it was obviously done spur-of-the-moment without a plan in place to minimize the disruption to the teams/players affected by this action.

Second, telling people to “get over it” is a pretty sh!tty thing to say. Akin to your DC tearing an ACL and someone saying “It happens. Get over it!”. No need for you to be a jackass to people just because you can’t relate to how this impacts them.

+1000

Stay away from GFR as far as you can now that you see how greedy and stupid and cowardly the management is.

+1. The way this was handled was really a travesty for the girls who were affected by it. And current GFR leadership either doesn’t care or refuses to acknowledge the concerns and address them.

This has been my observation, as well. Have yet to even see him show up at anything. I’m not sure what’s going on behind the scenes with GFR as a whole but it feels like they were not really prepared for the sudden dismissals of RP and KB and were then scrambling to figure out who was going to their teams. As it is right now, there are some coaches who are stretched very thin and there’s been no word on how that’s going to be addressed for the immediate future (at least no word from the TD or club to the parents).

He will back be around just in time for camp season.
