NM and DMV FC to GFR?

Curious too? Are they still part of NVA? Are they going to join this new BRAVE-Union alliance?

It appears that NM is happy to collect a paycheck from GFR but so far, hasn’t yielded any benefits for the club. The rumor with them leaving NVA was that they would be leveraging NM’s connections to McLean to form some kind of relationship with them. Maybe that still happens or maybe it got derailed with the FVU news but as of right now, it’s hard to see how GFR is benefitting from NM’s involvement.

He is still a little weasel, as he was when my kids played for the club. Weasels gonna weasel.

A poster in another thread alleges that RP was “successful” in his legal action against GFR (whatever that was - wrongful termination, maybe?). Apparently, he continues to show up at his former team’s games (as a spectator) which, if true, is sort of weird and makes you wonder “to what end?”.

There's legal action already? He just left (forcefully or on his own accord jury is still out on that one - no pun intended) in late January! And he was a beloved coach so not so weird since he had a great relationship with his teams!!

No - not a part of NVA.

He's been there approximately a month. Are you expecting national league players to fly out of GFR just because he's the new TD? Too soon to start rumors here on this board (I jest - its clearly already in the works).

Well, it was definitely not his choice. That much I know from multiple people who are in a position to know the details about what happened (I do not). And I guess it seems strange in the sense that someone else is coaching his teams now so him being there might be seen as an “unnecessary distraction”.

RP was and will always be known as a douche.

NM has not coached a single session with a GFR player. does that answer your question?

This has been my observation, as well. Have yet to even see him show up at anything. I’m not sure what’s going on behind the scenes with GFR as a whole but it feels like they were not really prepared for the sudden dismissals of RP and KB and were then scrambling to figure out who was going to their teams. As it is right now, there are some coaches who are stretched very thin and there’s been no word on how that’s going to be addressed for the immediate future (at least no word from the TD or club to the parents).

We were ok when RP was getting $150k for doing nothing.
But we are getting mad at NM for not doing anything when the announcement says he doesn’t start until 24-25. Can you confirm that he is getting paid at this time?
I believe he is still the director of DMV FC. You know the club that just beat RP’s beloved team by a touchdown.

Guess that shows how important RP was to that club then huh.

I realize that the announcement said the DMV FC coaches and teams will be joining GFR in 24-25 but according to the GFR staff page at https://www.gfrsoccerclub.org/Default.aspx?tabid=1209808, NM is already the GFR TD (and ML is now the director of coaching). It says “per signed contract” so I would assume he’s getting paid now. I don’t fully understand how he juggles all of these different roles with MYS, DMV FC/TF and now GFR. But if that page is incorrect and he’s not currently acting as the GFR TD then it begs the question, who is?

GFR parent here - its a S*** show. Wild wild west of soccer. Morale is low. Coaching staff is all over the place (stretched thin per another comment is putting it mildly). Random parents are coaching RL teams! Club leads won't answer emails when parents are demanding answers for basic questions. Very messy, at least for the older players. Not sure if any of this is trickling down to the younger travel teams age groups. Next year is going to be interesting to say the least.
