Sounds like by your reasoning, they should just look at report card to determine who goes to AAP. Just put Kids who get mostly O's in the AAP. There's probably good reason why they don't do that. |
But wouldn't phenomenal processing speed or an amazing working memory be a type of giftedness? I think so. |
Certainly those are types of giftedness, otherwise they wouldn't be included in the WISC, right? But all the stuff on the Net says the VCI/PMI is a better predictor of true giftedness. Who knows. |
So is that what you think the AAP program people are looking for - "true giftedness?" I could see why this is important. If not, they could err in allowing in the merely precocious, and then what would kind of a program would it be, right? ![]() |
Scores are in and getting postmarked. Please post when you get a reply. Boy I hate waiting agian. |
PP: You CHOSE to appeal, you have to WAIT. ![]() |

We're waiting too! I heard that they mail the decisions within 2-3 weeks, so the wait is shorter in this round. Good luck everyone! What's your score? Ours is FSIQ 129 and GBRS 12. Keep posting those scores! |
Good appeal return thoughts to all. It is nice to know there are other in the same situation. |
Are they going to look at the previous file too, i mean the GBRS which is in the previous file. |
Ours is FSIQ 129 and GBRS 8 so we on the cusp, but being positve we have excellent recommendations. |
Yes. They look at the stats from the file ( scores, gbrs-mainly just the cover sheet info). They also review any notes that the central committee made when reviewing the file originally. Once they get a general idea of the child they are reconsidering, they look at the newly submitted info and discuss whether the new info is compelling enough to reverse the original decision. I hope that helps. |
what are the chances if the Wisc is high now but previous GBRS was low and cogat was 120. |
Curious, 12:14, are you a teacher or AART? You sound like you actually know what you're talking about! Thanks! |
I am curious does anyone know who looks at the appeals? Is it adminastrators, psychologists, teachers,or a combination of the above. Just curious if anyone knows. Thanks |
