| One of my points is, if you got your head out of your ass long enough to actually get to know people in your community, you'd realize the waves of disinformation don't stop with the white trumpeters you now consider disposable. I know an astonishing number of black, educated, professional families who are suspicious of vaccinations. And I'm not even going outside my own bubble to find them. Try looking in Texas or Mississippi or Georgia and the numbers climb higher |
A 10 year old just died in another county. How many school aged children (0-18) have died in MD? How many have died in the US? How many in the world? How many kids are hospitalized right now in the US? How many are in the ICU. Just looking at MD isn't enough. And 12 kids in the ICU is 12 to many! How would you feel if it were your child? |
You asked about my friend's family before. Well, some had to get vaccinated for their job. The rest didn't get vaccinated because they don't trust the mandates. Fox eggs this shit on. |
The majority of kids in MoCo ages 5-12 are still unvaccinated. Do I think that's dumb? CHRIST yes! Do I think any of those kids deserve to die, be hospitalized, or deal with long-COVID because their parents are dumb? CHRIST no! And that's not even considering their younger siblings who *can't* be vaccinated, or their elderly relatives who might be vaccinated but still be vulnerable - all of whom deserve consideration. Our family doesn't really fall into any of these categories either, so I get that it's easy to feel safe and assume that everyone should just get with your program. But this is public school. It exists to serve a large community, including people in vastly different circumstances. If you're only able to take your own circumstances into account, maybe YOU'RE the one who should "just homeschool." |
5-11 are 9% of the population,5% is now fully vaccinated. So more than half of 5-11 are vaccinated. 12-15 year olds almost 100% vaccinated. Where are you getting your information from ? https://app.powerbigov.us/view?r=eyJrIjoiZDUxZTUzNWMtMjk1MS00ZjAyLTliMWYtMDdlMjY0MmQ5ZTc3IiwidCI6IjZlMDFiMWY5LWIxZTUtNDA3My1hYzk3LTc3ODA2OWEwYWQ2NCJ9&pageName=ReportSection81710217dba9873d424d 92% fully vaccinated for 12 and over https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.localdvm.com/news/maryland/nearly-30000-young-children-vaccinated-in-montgomery-county/amp/ Like I said, you are impervious to facts. |
Uh, I really don’t think you know how to read these charts. That’s not what that link is saying. |
| I get that MCPS is not going to use the 5% rule and that they’re only going to close if they absolutely have to due to staffing issues, but they need to keep updating the dashboard so that each family has the information they need to make their own risk/benefit analysis of sending their children to school. I’m concerned that they will no longer share up-to-date information on the percent of unrelated staff and students at each school who have tested positive in the last 14 days because they no longer have a specified threshold that triggers any action. |
Really? Why don’t you educate me? |
They are definitely not. |
DP. It says 5% of the *vaccinated* population is kids 5-11, not that 5% of the total population is vaccinated kids 5-11. |
Guessing their attorneys are advising them not to? It could be used as evidence of poor decision making and intent not to honor their policy. |
The 5% rule is no longer MCPS policy. |

[Same boat except that my child and 14 other classes at her school have been virtual since Dec 16th. If the virus hasn't left the building by this point, it never will. I understand it could be a staffing issue, but if so you need to find a better plan by now or just close everyone. I am pretty pissed. I had to scramble to find plans for my child. I am a single mom. Now you"may" have a plan by Sunday?? So frustrating.

Same boat, but I’m really glad they’re at least reconsidering. Better than another 10 days of virtual. |
I'm sorry you slept with a jerk and you have no friends or relatives that help take care of your children, but your own personal issue is not something the school can fix. A church group or other volunteer organization may be able to help out. Also search FB, NextDoor, etc. but don't make your own personal situation the MCPS excuse for in-person-only learning. Hybrid can also be offered to help with social distancing in schools. |
You are clearly not very smart it says 5% vaccinated as a % of total population. You have to highlight the 5% bar and it tells you the raw numbers of how many 5-11 received 1 vaccine vs 2 vaccines. 30,647 fully vaccinated. 49% with 1 dose, 34% with 2 doses. That’s data from 12/27/21, the numbers are higher now. If 5-11 are 9% of the total population or 90,000 did you think that only 5% or 4,500 are vaccinated? |
