Covid Update from Central Office

Does this mean they keep using the red, yellow, green chart?

We transitioned 11 schools to virtual based on metrics that now match every school; therefore, we will be changing our metrics. We will not be communicating what those new metrics are, but, rest assured, we are working hard at whatever it is you think we should be focusing on. We havent done anything new to protect staff or students, so we will send home some test kids and request that parents and guardians administer them to the students and report the results.

should have read "test kits" not "test kids," but i think that was obvious

Where are the KKN95 masks being distributed and to whom? not students as far as I know. And for the love of g_d, get rid of the "singing masks"

Has anybody found this on their website or, like, anywhere else?

No. I can’t find it on their site. Is this fake?

I prefer this too, but not applause for MCPS. They are a disaster--they said the state was requiring them to use this 5% threshold, which was not true, and the State Health Dept ended up having to tweet a response to shut it down. There has been zero communication from MCPS to the community. This is an example of MCPS's incompetence, not at all its leadership.

They should stop using it, because it's meaningless--the state didn't actually tell them to use 5% to begin conversations about shifting to virtual.

OK "high vaccination rates" are not "measures" the school system is implementing. When MCPS requires vaccination for all staff and students (unless otherwise exempted) then we will be looking at measures the school system is implementing.

Moving forward, MCPS and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) will examine schools on a case-by-case basis to determine if any particular school needs to transition to virtual learning for a designated period of time. Factors considered will continue to include the number of students and staff who have tested positive; the number of students in quarantine; the number of staff absent for COVID-related reasons; and the level of spread of the virus in the school.

Lol. Why don’t they just tell us they’re using local not long to determine if any schools stay open vs. flip to virtual.

Typo. Local norming!

You applaud their using unspecified and deliberately withheld criteria that consequently lack any transparency? Stuff your head deeper in the sand, you seem to be enjoying it.

"Our plan lasted less than 48 hours because we don't know what plan really means. Going forward, there will be no more plans. Rest assured we know how best to educate your children, though, (wink wink)"
