I am a very low energy person. I have had extensive blood testing, even seeing an endocrinologist, and all my bloodwork is 100% normal. The low-energy thing runs in my family. I need a lot of rest in general.
Anyhow, I work full-time 40 hours per week. However, I lose steam after lunch, and am drained by the end of the day. Sometimes I will nap after work. I get 8-9 hours of good sleep each night. I do not exercise, however. Any tips on how to become more energetic for work? I am fine on the weekends, I get a lot done. Overall I like my job but my low energy is causing me to not perform as well as I could. |
| Do you have sleep apnea or low vitamin D or iron levels? Thyroid working okay? Is the office too hot or the job too boring? What do you have for lunch? |
Got vitamin D checked--normal. Iron is normal, as is thyroid--even went to an endocrinologist for more sensitive testing for thyroid. I don't think I have sleep apnea--at least my husband, who is a light sleeper, has never mentioned it. I feel like I wake up feeling pretty good. And on the weekends I am very productive and don't feel low energy most of the time. Job is somewhat boring but most jobs are. Office is usually too cold--I always bring a sweater. Lunch varies. I do tend to eat a lot of carbs--sandwich, etc. |

If you are more productive in the morning, regardless of when you eat lunch, can you alter your work hours so you get in earlier and leave earlier? this way you could do the bulk of your work in the morning and it wouldn't matter as much if you slacked off after lunch.
Or, if it's an eating thing -- have you tried eating smaller meals/snacks rather than a big lunch, if lunch is the trigger? |
| Maybe have a little protein for lunch and use your lunch break to go to they gym. |
| I had a coworker like this. She improved immensely after eliminating gluten. |
| Coffee? |
I don't drink coffee. Makes me way too jittery. |
| Start exercising regularly and after 4-6 weeks, you will feel that you have more energy. If you can, get a short walk at lunchtime as well. |
| That's me you are talking about. Nothing helps. I exercise regularly, eat healthy, had everything and their grandmother tested, and don't eat gluten. Nothing works. |
| I think some people are naturally more energetic than others. |
