Getting rid of the baby pooch

Anonymous

I just started the 30 day shred but I'm looking for a short 10-15 minute extra ab video. I'm not a fan of crunches and I'm looking for a more pilates based workout. Does anyone have any video suggestions?

My DD is 18 months old and I still don't have my ab strength back. It's a little pathetic at this point.

I've been trying for 3 years. I'm beginning to think the tummy tuck is the answer as well.

But a tummy tuck won't rebuild muscle, right?

I just want to rebuild and repair my muscle strength.

No I don't think it will. I think it just takes away the excess stretched skin

got lipo and loving it.

I (thankfully) don't have excess skin. I just have flab and chub that I need to burn away. I'd love a tough Pilates-esque workout.

No, a tummy tuck is just cosmetic. I don't care so much about that, but I would like to rebuild my core strength.

If you have abdominal separation from having kids, a tummy tuck is the only thing that can fix that. Your post title talks about "getting rid of the baby pooch," which refers to some protrusion of the stomach, either fat or because the abs have separated. Doing ab exercises alone will not help either. But if ab strength is indeed all you're talking about, you might be able to get that back just through core exercises.

+1

OP you need to be sure you do not have a separate of your muscles. If you do, ab work will only make it worse. The only correction in this case is surgery. I have a separation of my muscles and as a result, my stomach sticks out at my belly button and higher. I saw a PT and she gave me some special exercises to help as well as a special belt to hold my stomach together. Overtime, though, I realized I would always need to hold my stomach in. I don't have extra flab or skin, just a separation in my muscles.

Try Jackie Warner's No Crunch Abs. I had 2 c-sections and am working on this issue now. It is a great DVD and I am starting to see results.

What about specific classes at the gym? I'm a gym newbie (just joining after two kids) and want to make sure I'm signing up for stuff that works on my core. My butt, legs, arms... I'm fine with those - the middle needs work!

Blogilates, amazing short workouts! just google it and give it a go. Let me know how you like it.

I've had both a midwife and a physical therapist tell me that my ab separation (one finger width) would heal with ab work like Pilates. Granted, I haven't made the time/effort to confirm this by actually doing Pilates, but I don't think you need to jump to surgery.
