DH and I are going grocery shopping tonight. Usually I do the shopping but I lack all will power and I'm trying to lose the last 10 pounds of baby weight before a big wedding at the end of July. So if I go by myself I will probably buy something I shouldn't. So DH and I are going on a diet (he wants to lose 20 pounds of "sympathy" weight) Anyways, need some good low calorie dinner ideas.
DH IS ALLERGIC TO ALL SEAFOOD so that makes it difficult. Anyone have any good recipes? I think DH would be ok with 1 veg dinner a week, but he is definitely a meat eater. Thanks. I've looked online but it can be overwhelming and who knows if the stuff actually tastes good! |
| Gina's Skinny Taste website. Everything is great! |
| Awesome thanks PP. Thats exactly what I"m looking for!!! |
| I second the recommendation of Skinny Taste. I've found some great recipes there. |
| Also try Kalyn's Kitchen- I too love Skinnytaste! |
| We eat a lot of stir-fry. Heavy on the vegetables with lean beef or boneless skinless chicken. Brown rice instead of white. |
| Well now that's is warm why not do some grilling? You can grill lean meats like pork tenderloin, chicken breast, even lean beef. Grilled veggies are delicious, I like zucchini, squash, peppers, corn on the cob, eggplant. You can grill potatoes too in a foil packet. Try sweet potatoes, they are healthier! |
| Gazpacho |

OP,
Good luck with the weight loss, however, I think 10 pounds in two months isn't that realistic. If you are nursing you actually need more calories. Don't starve yourself, you might end up gaining more. Try to take a walk or go swimming with DH to help boost your metabolism. |
| There's an article in today's WaPo food section about Mark Bittman and how he lost a lot of weight quickly by eating only vegan before 6 pm every day. The article mentions a book or two that you could look into if interested. |
Actually no longer BF, which is why the last 10 pounds are being really stubborn. I do agree with you on the 10 pounds though. Drives me nuts because last time we dieted, DH lost 10 pounds in about 3 weeks lol. My diet was pretty bad so I'm kind of hoping that cutting out all junk food and eating mostly veggies and good protein plus exercise will really work. |
| I think fasting works really well. Try that for awhile and then you'll be used to not eating much. Also, you didn't mention exercise. The more you do -- the easier it will be to lose thos 10 pds. Good luck! I'm starving/dieting/exercisin g to lose weight for my dd's college graduation. I've been working on it since Feb. 1 |

Breakfast: Big bowls of melon, grapes, strawberries, topped with 1/2 c. of cottage cheese; or a smoothie (protein powder, frozen fruit, banana, flax seed, and a handful of spinach). Or high protein cereal with a banana.
Lunches: big salads w/healthy protein (avocado, egg, tuna, beans); "bowls" (brown rice, steamed veggies, protein, and some kind of dressing or sauce) snacks: baby carrots, celery, snow peas, bell peppers w/hummus, the snack packs of almonds from Trader Joes, apple w/peanut butter Do not bring anything into your home that tempts you or that you have a tendency to binge eat (ice cream, cookies, pretzels, chips, beer). buy frozen fruit bars to satisfy your sweet tooth. The VB6 diet has worked pretty well for me (I still have cream in my coffee), especially when dealing with work meetings or parties, where I'm tempted to have the cake, the chips, the cookies. If there are no raw veggies, then I just help myself to some sparkling water. |

If you cut out all or most refined carbs and sugar you'll drop the weight quickly. Make sure you're getting enough protein be it beans, turkey, quinoa etc. good luck OP.
I've had luck substitutiong ground turkey in lots of ground beef recipes, stuffed peppers: load them up with carrots, onions, tomatoes and peas and then turkey. Stirfrys are always a hit at my house and even the meat and potatoes DH loves it (he cubes and pan fries the todo himself in a spicy sauce and I do all the vegetables: broccoli, book choi, zuch separately and then we comine with lime juice scallions and cilantro. ) |
| My go to websites are skinnytaste and skinny moms. The skinny moms website has a claendar of meals for the month with pictures and grocery shopping list. It really doesn't get any easier than that. |
