This is a total misquote. All this poster said was no announcement of any decision had been made, not saying that their club was staying BY. In other words, nothing new.

The people on that subreddit know less than the people in this one and that is saying a lot.

Yeah, but this thread wins choose-your-own reality.

We are all waffling around waiting for mlsn and actual roster changes - there's not much news

I don’t know that there will be any roster changes prior to 26/27 but I would expect to see a lot of new faces at practices in the spring doing informal tryouts prior to the real ones.

In the meantime, there's just a lot of huffing and puffing about people who think they know every detail of how the transition will go.

My favorite take is that their will be no changes, nobody will want to switch teams and teams won't want better players, especially the older kids where my kid is and where I am really worried.

It would be stupid if any Q3/Q4 RL or GA players didn't try to make the younger NL team.

I just hope they can start the transition in the Spring season, so we have enough time to evaluate my kid's level after the change to find a suitable team. It will be a huge change, tryout week is not enough to evaluate.

If GA, depends what club they are on/market they are in. GA still may be their top choice. Agreed, tho, on RL or any other strong USYS clubs -- of course that's how ENCL stays deep. It recruits the better players from other leagues.

Tryouts are for suckers. Your kid needs to get in practices with potential clubs/teams prior to tryouts.

It is literally just like the last time we did this switch. Everyone acted like nothing would change and then suddenly, after tryout season, things had completely flipped with huge changes in teams. It just human nature.

Not that there won't be a lot of changes but there are a couple of key differences this time... Fewer months affected and it's a smaller jump for them to play up vs. having Jan-Jul players under the BY switch.

ECNL had already told its clubs they will not start playing with the new age teams until Fall 26.

I would recommend reaching out to clubs before the tryout window. In my experience players already know where they are going before the start of the tryout window.

This time players will not be forced to move teams as they can play up if they choose. The amount of player movement will definitely depend on each region and the number of ECNL, high level GA or RL teams in an area.

Also most ECNL teams do not have a high number of Aug-Dec players (typically 1-3) but most RL/GA teams are they same and not filled with a high number of Q3/4 either.

I do not think it will as much as a change next year as will be over the next 2-5 years of seeing more Aug-Dec players on teams.

2012 and 2013 ECNL SY teams will be formed in February in SoCal. If nothing changes, it will be 30 players team.

Depends. I've seen a player who's been benched on a top team verbally commit to an underdog club, only to later switch after getting an offer from a better club.
