My teens will go to HS tomorrow and be one of the few there. Seems like everyone is taking a long weekend ans going somewhere.

A 2 hour delay also moves the decision time from 4am to 6am or something like that. I'm fully expecting a text around 5:45 am saying based in the conditions on the ground in the morning, they have to close schools. They made a good show of trying their best by relocating bus stops from the iciest roads as a CYA move for those who say they aren't trying hard enough but I don't know if it will be enough.

Hmm perhaps this is the real reason some people are freaking out about school opening tomorrow.

Public schools should remain open for parents who feel comfortable sending their children to school, as parents have the right to make decisions about their children's safety. The businesses remained open except for the public school. Teachers and school administrators do not take school buses to get to work. It is unfair for parents who do not have other options like working from home.

Well that makes at least 2 of us. And I have teens, so it’s not a childcare issue.

I think the bus reroutes came out late enough that a lot of families will miss it - they have to know that, right? Not to mention the new stops don’t have any times to go along with them, sooooo many kids are gonna be left stranded tomorrow

Out streets are icy, VDOT did no show up even once . Did not treat the roads . We have no sidewalks . It’s very icy to walk to get to bus stop , or even drive .
I begged VDOT to come since it’s 2 hr delay 15 kids have to walk through these icy roads ,
I am on with 2 hours Delay if at least VDOt came at least once , but they never did . I have no idea what happened this year . So disappointed!!!

Just keep your kids home. If you’re that worried, keep them home.

Just keep your kids home. If you’re that worried, keep them home.

Think you missed all the teachers and parents here insisting tomorrow was going to apparently be the most important instructional day of the semester.

OMG This brings back memories! In late ES my DC (just prior to COVID) borrowed a friend’s cellphone to text and tell me he would be late, but I should not worry. He was on the bus home when the driver got turned around and lost. He said things were OK now because tye kids were now helping the driver with directions and kids were finally getting to their stops. He was over an hour late.

Getting my popcorn ready for tomorrow!
