Personally to me this has shown me that for the Queen love is conditional. She’s an amazing queen but has long seemed like a sub par mother and grandmother. People can be more than one thing at the same time

She destroys/tries to destroy everyone who disagrees with her. Her sister. Prince Charles (her fault he married Diana), and now she tried it with Harry/Meghan. Also the kid she was closest to/most involved in rearing was Andrew...and he’s the worst one of the bunch!

Victoria was the same way with her children. Having favorites, not having a good relationship with her heir, and even trying to prevent her last daughter from marrying in order to keep her around as her personal attendant.

But there is also the fact that she really seemed to fall in love with Phillip and was a fierce advocate to marry him. Victoria had the same sort of beginning with Albert. But he didn't live long enough to cheat on her for decades, so I don't know.

Elizabeth fell in love with Philipp, but Philipp did not fall in love with her. He was poor, broke, a nazi outcast who happened to have a powerful uncle/godfather named Montbatten. Philipp did not have a lot of options. Montbatten encouraged Philipp to woo Elizabeth the heir to the throne. It was easy to influence a naive 13-year old when you are a tall, handsome nineteen-year old. It was the best payoff in Philipp's life. He got the future queen and all the toys and mistresses life allowed him.

The British monarch is head of 15 or 16 Commonwealth realms (including the United Kingdom countries). Each of those countries or realms supports the royal family in some way - financially. There's a reason Elizabeth's on Canadian money, their government sends her $50 million a year to support her family's lifestyle.

So yes -- they have to visit. On average they send a senior royal/royal couple to the major nations every year - Australia, Canada, New Zealand get their own visits and the Caribbean nations get a visit as a collective.

I would really love to watch a Canadian Prime Minister in debates explain how they justify sending a foreign monarch $50 million a year. Adjusted from Canadian dollars that's about $28 million pounds a year. The British spend $90 million pounds a year on the royal family by themselves.

Let them use the publicity in any way they want to make money instead of being a drain on society. They're not taxpayer-funded, they're not taking money from the royal family, let them hustle.
