OMG I would love if someone dug up a video of her from high school with a straight up Boston masshole accent.

On the Spanish people are white topic. Ehhhhh. I mean Europeans think Italians are colored people (hell we though that in America too). The Spanish / Italian / Greeks are the butt of European economic policy jokes too. They aren't exactly respected as equals.

Since people seem to think her behavior is victimless.

I am a nanny. I am also an immigrant. We are the invisible people behind the Instagram posts of baking cookies, homemade baby food, sleeping babies, and organized pantries. We are the invisible people who allow people like this to live their best life. We are the ones with accents, different cultures, hardship, and have to worry about where we get our next paycheck. To take the experience of an actual immigrant and to wear it like cloak when it’s convenient is disgusting. It’s not okay. You say this doesn’t hurt anyone, but I’m here to tell you it does. My nanny friends and I don’t get to wear a new identity to change our status in life. Slap on a new name to be exotic... or get a job. To say no one is hurt, diminishes our experience. Working as a nanny is hard work and when women like that erase us and then claim our identities (accents, language, culture) as their own? No. Not okay. I don’t get to change who I am when it’s convenient.

Perhaps choose another career?

THIS! Times a million. It's just not okay.

You aren’t an indentured servant. Choose another career, lady.

You're disgusting.

PP asked a question and it was answered.

Her initial GMA interview about their wedding is golden. It’s comical.

Heard 'bout the new spin-off of Emily In Paris? It's called Hilaria in Mallorca.

The link to reddit has someone posing the longest link of her speaking in Spanish. It is from somewhere from fall 2014 to winter 2015. She is asked around 2:28 about a home in Spain and she respond Alec is busy "making movies" but mispronounces the word for movie- "Pelicula" as Pelucula" and has to say it again. Watching the whole 3;30 minute video that has been edited she does not seem comfortable speaking only in Spanish. She uses pat phrases over and over, ex. "bueno, pues.." [well, then...]

I would imagine after that she stopped doing interviews in Spanish besides quick blurbs that use repeated phrases.

Spanish people with European descent are definitely white as things stand now. Whiteness is a construct and different groups have been considered white during different time periods, but yes Spaniards are white (unless their lineage includes non-white people, of course). This is why Latin America is full of white people; they are descendants of Spanish and Portuguese people. The problem with HB is more about her fetishizing the general Hispanic culture, I think, like her comments about being dark and being confused for a nanny, in addition to straight-up lying.

Hilaria... got Alec Baldwin out of it. And a few spots on "Best-Dressed Latina" lists. Not comparable.

Yeah, no thanks. I'd rather keep my integrity and self-worth than have to put up with that self-important rageaholic.

Alec seems really unhinged. Given his extensive history of punching people and getting away with it (good lawyers), I'd worry for my safety. So he's no prize. But I do tend to agree that the professors and Dolezal are worse because in many cases they received scholarships or preferential hiring, and blocked the paths of actual POC competing for the same positions or funding. The marketplace for social media influencers is a bit different in that there are not finite positions or funding, and that people understand that the influencers may be misrepresenting their lives. Hillary is wrong, but with the right crisis PR this scandal will actually benefit ala Paris Hilton or KK sex tape.

But I do have to say that this issue has made me think Hollywood PR is seriously behind DC PR. I hope that the Baldwins and other Hollywood people who like to live life on the edge (of truth and other things) get the right people on retainer bc this has been a total ish show. And that's been entertaining but alarming.

Hollywood PR is behind DC PR. They work together. Especially if a celebrity talks politics. Funding to nonprofits tied to agendas.

There are choices, believe me. Been there, done that. Make those losers raise their own damned offspring.
