It's on their parents. FCPS sent the communication. Hopefully their moms will pick up the phone when they are in the midst of their pilates class and save them from freezing.

I think you people forget that a lot of FCPS parents are immigrants and/or non-English speaking and/or work nights etc. the kids that will be affected are not the ones whose parents post in this group.

So those people have been driving all week at all hours to get to their jobs while you WFH and only make necessary trips and maybe place an Instacart order or two and now you’re speaking up for their children. That’s right?
Actually I teach these kids.

You are a hero. Keep telling us what’s best for them.

Yeah instead of addressing the valid failures of VDOT and how this is their responsibility, we bully FCPS into burying their head in the snow and opening the schools to “keep the economy moving”

Extra days for plows to show up, people call and complain. And some will probably take the shovel in their hands when they have free time on a weekend.

We went to the library today to swap out books but that's the first time we've gone out of our area since Sunday, yes. We WFH, kids can walk to friends houses, no need to get out on the streets in a car and make them worse just for fun.

“For fun”. Keeping the local economy moving. lol.

Maybe we need to revise how snow is handled and why so many residential streets in central suburban areas are still not plowed days later while apparently they show they are. if we want economy moving.. like they do in the areas where snow is common and 6 inches of snowfall is not an emergency.

Start looking around at the neighboring jurisdictions which manage to do this and ask some questions of your county.

Actually, it’s fine. The traffic has been normal since Wednesday across the entire area. Monday was empty. Tuesday, about half were back. Wenesday, back to normal. And many school were packed with kids sledding. But god forbid…walking inside that same school building….treacherous.

Sure, but wont' be fixed tomorrow. In the meanwhile let's not punish people who haven't been served despite paying high taxes.

The snow is so packed and driven over and melted down and refrozen it wouldn’t help much anyway.

FCPS doesn’t need to keep the economy moving. Sounds like you could have used a few less snow days when you were in school!!! But those of us who didn’t have mommy and daddy buy our houses for us actually work for a living. And are expected to show up. We can’t live in this “I’m afraid to go pick up my instacart order from the front porch because it might be slick”.

But at least if you fall, it can’t hurt but so bad being that soft.

Everyone who is complaining about their street not being plowed has been back and forth to the store and work and friends’ houses. It’ll all be fine.

I agree with you, but they do need to keep the economy moving to pay the very bloated nova taxes. They’ve got to change school names from Woodson to Woodson, damn it!!

Some other idiot made the comment about the economy. I think you need to work on your reading comprehension - hop on the bus with your kid tomorrow.
