I know at the outset that this is an impossible question to answer, as one would need to better know grades/scores, etc., and it's also so subjective. That said, please do take a stab at it. Assuming a strong student (but not top ten percenter in grades or SATs) and well rounded extracurriculars (but not a recruitable athlete or a phenom in any one thing), and no hooks, what are some of the "brand name" schools one might take a look at. |
Boston University? |
Penn State. |
What about SMU? |
Apparently not brand name enough. What is it? |
Ole Miss. |
Guess you don't get out much. |
I suppose that's brand name, in a "Lowreys Microwave Pork Rinds" kind of way. |
Nice shout out for your school! |
Sandra Bullock rehabbed it in Blindside. |
East Carolina University is attracting lots of not top of the class kids from our area. |
And hey, Sandra Bullock went there! Forget Ole Miss! |
Ha. Maybe she started the trend. See what you Arlingtonians can become? |
Emory |
Not sure how easy these are to get into anymore, but these are what I think of as some of the 2nd tier "brand name" schools:
UNC-Charlotte George Mason (increasingly brand name) UMass-Amherst Rutgers Temple If you want something smaller, check out the COPLAC schools (Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges). Some are more selective; some less so. |
