Agree, really weird! what's the reasoning for delay posting? All out of order? And Tyler has still yet to post anything about Jen on his page? The weirdest of all |
Tyler posted a post of the double date he and Jen did on Glennon’s podcast. He’s claiming her as his girlfriend. |
It's about time! |
I could be wrong, but wasn't Brandon a pastor pretty much from the start? I suppose Jen could have influenced his choices while they were still in college, but that seems unlikely, especially since they met at a pretty conservative Baptist college (which gave them both the Alumni Profiles in Excellence award in 2013). It seems more like they graduated, she taught for a bit, he was on staff/pastor at a large church. Jen started leading women's Bible studies, discovered she had a flair for teaching and leveraged her connections to start writing her Modern Girls Bible Study books. As her star began rising I think Brandon just started getting pulled along for the ride. |
Brandon didn’t get pulled along for a ride. He was a willing participant—a follower. He’s a user and a follower. He changes his style and persona more than an awkward middle schooler trying to find their way. He’s not a sympathetic character. He’s a wanna be biker dud…for now. He’ll shift again, as soon as it suited him. |
*suites him, dang autocorrect. |
Agree ⬆️ Both of them looking for a payday. Being a teacher, generally, is not a career from which one becomes rich. Likewise, youth pastor gigs don’t pay that well either. They sought ways to get ahead - and that path was through scaling their operation through books, speaking engagements, skimming off of a non-profit that is truly a scam in my opinion, getting on TV. All of it was to get ahead. Hey, I’m all for pursuing the American Dream… just don’t piss down my leg and tell me it’s raining. I was born at night…. But not last night. It was pretty easy to see through if you looked hard enough. |
I've never really followed JH, but I just have to say as someone who grew up in the Northeast, this whole Texas look just cracks me up. It's funny to me that Brandon thinks he looks bad*ss. But you know, to each their own. Lots of things don't translate across cultures. |
What happened to the church that Jen and Brandon started in Austin? Is it still there? Do they or her parents still attend? Who is the pastor now? |
I guess I didn't really mean 'pulled along' in the terms of him being an innocent bystander, but more in terms of him hitching his wagon to her star. Yes, he had his own thing, a few books, probably some speaking, then starting ANC, but he was primarily leveraging her fame and her name as the draw. |
It’s still there. It’s very small. Maybe a few dozen in person per service. The vast majority of the old ANC guard are long gone. I mean the Hatmakers don’t even go there anymore. It’s like a “post church”, very progressive, very on brand social justice, always insisting they’re not afraid to tackle the Big Questions. It’s exhausting, like a freshman philosophy class, and people don’t tend to stick around for this sort of stuff. Just more average white men spouting off their ever evolving thoughts on the world. Eye roll city. Tray Pruet is still there for some reason and the main teaching guy the Hatmakers brought in who wears a hat and is unbearably smarmy in the pulpit. They now meet in an old downtown Methodist church. |
|
Did the Hatmakers choose the current pastor? If so that speaks volumes about their lack of judgement. That hip hat pastor couldn’t even do a video with Tray after the Uvalde shooting without multiple references about not wanting to center the experience on himself. In his extreme need to appear woke he seemed out of sync with any real emotional response or support. It’s so past pretentious it like he’s role playing dress up as a pastor with no real spiritual understanding or authority. I actually think Brandon and Jen had both at one time. Can’t say they do these days as they’ve been working so hard to distance themselves from their roots. |
I’m pretty sure the Hatmakers handpicked him… from Joel Osteen’s church. YIKES. Also, someone on Reddit posted a screenshot of ANC’s livestream service around Easter time (maybe it was Easter Sunday?). Jen is sitting in the front row, next to the Pruets, and with her arm around Dave Hollis. |
Well looks from his insta like Brandon has been reading here, lol, and is trying to make his job and F250 look as inflated as he thinks it is after the criticism here. Nice try. Dude should just put his head down and be grateful for being handed and nice job from someone and stop trying to look more important than you are. No shame in no fame and a ‘regular guy’ job. |
