OK, I'm totally on board with how they were scamming Citibike by redocking (for 50 minutes no less, according to his receipts) to reset the free ride. But from reading that, it looks like you get points for every ride, not for miles covered. So in theory he could use his account on a different bike for the next leg of the trip, and this just looks like a case of wanting the e-bike and not wanting to give it to the pregnant woman. Or am I missing something?

Anyway, if they were on the reduced Annual Fare program (https://help.citibikenyc.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032367371-What-if-I-keep-a-bike-out-too-long-) because the family was on other government aid, Citibike might have reason to be annoyed they were using it to hoard bikes.

There are a lot of possible permutations. But if they were just docking the bikes there to get Bike Angel points, refusing to let anyone else use them, then taking them out again (either to ride or get more points) that’s pretty crappy behavior.

There are a lot of possible permutations. But if they were just docking the bikes there to get Bike Angel points, refusing to let anyone else use them, then taking them out again (either to ride or get more points) that’s pretty crappy behavior.

Two birds with one stone. They dock to (1) reset the 45 minutes and also (2) to get Bike Angel points.

What's also crappy is that 50 minutes elapsed between when he brought the bike to the station and when he left the station again. Less than 10 minutes into that 50 minutes, she rents it for a minute, and he immediately redocks her and re-rents it himself for 6 minutes. But then after she goes away he redocks the bike again and waits another 15-20 minutes before his receipts show he actually re-rents the bike and leaves the docking station for good.

So part of the hoarding involved not actually using the bike for almost an hour. How the family or Monique think publishing any of this helps their case, I have no idea.

What's hilarious/sad is that you or anybody else thinks this makes the young men look good. Go back and read the last few pages. These new videos and Monique's article actually show the young man admitting he forcibly redocked the bike with the PA on it. His receipts document the PA's claim re timing. His receipts also make it very clear that he was hoarding the CitiBike for many hours while scamming the Bike Angels program. That and continuing to publish the video showing the men mocking her and calling her baby re**d.... Why on earth anybody thinks the original video, the sister's video, or Monique's piece helps the young man is a mystery.
