How many MYS families are on board with moving dow to play and train with lower level SYC teams. It may be for the better development of the ones sent down. The true people that care will be fine but others who are as they say buying their prestige will complain and feel like its unfair.

The only ones fighting for a spot are the SYC kids... the part-time kids always have a spot and yes, to be fair they are better players. They just won't commit to play for the Club so they get best of both worlds. Play for their own club, with their own friends and a guarantee spot in MLSNEXT.

If the kid doesn’t make DCU, then the kid and the family need to decide whether to go for the college path (ECNL) or not. With this merger, the college path is sort of inside the club, so that makes it easier to choose.

Dcu is not just a pro path. And mls next is not likely to stop at u14 for affiliates. These kids could already go to McLean ecnl if they do not make dcu. How does the merger make that easier? It’s the same competition regardless.

Players that don’t make ecnl will not train in combined teams with syc. They will train w mys players only on mys teams. The only combined team is ecnl.

as far as I know, no one has been "recruited" by DC United for next year

Someone from the 03s said most of the boys don't have the grades for college path either.

That makes no sense , There are plenty of Mclean kids that would benefit developmentally be training with SYC staff and players.

I believe 14 players on the 03s are commited to play college soccer next year.

Getting the distinct feeling that the clubs really had not thought this through carefully before pulling the trigger. It could easily crater and really set both clubs back in a very competitive environment. And I don’t think any parents are seeing an upside. The clubs will need to communicate a lot more clearly and they better have detailed answers to all the tough questions people will have over the next few weeks.

It’s typical of clubs in the area. Come up with something, role it out, think of impact and answer questions later.
