Really? This guys must be getting fined non-stop as you can see from his celebrations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMGcWHRHJiY |

Oh yawn “it was a taunt and it was unsportsmanlike.”
What are you, Phil Neville? |
Perfect illustration of my point—thank you! https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-cup/2018/07/15/antoine-griezmann-celebrates-world-cup-final-goal-disgusting/ By the way, you may not know this, but FIFA, unlike the NFL, almost never imposes fines. When they do, it’s often for dubious reasons like the ones on the Albanian Swiss players who celebrated against Serbia during their WC win. |
The whole bunch of them are hypersensitive to criticism. They're getting so much fawning coverage from the media they've come to expect that everyone will kiss their asses. Welcome to the real world, ladies. |
I don;t have a huge issue Morgan's celebration, but it isn't the same thing as Griezman doing a Fortnite dance. One is a dumb celebration. The other is pointed at the opponent. |
| The Fortnite dance essentially calls the opponent ‘losers’. Either way they’re just goal celebrations, it’s not as if they’re going up to an opposing player and doing in their face. If it’s really such a travesty, it’s on the opponents to stop them from scoring. No score, no celebration. |
|
Griezmann's celebration was towards any opponent. He celebrated the same manner when playing for Madrid Atletico.
Morgan's was a taunt and I didn't understand why? Did England do something to her or make an unfair comment? |
| Morgan’s celebration wasn’t anymore directed at the opponents than Griezmann’s celebration whether he scored with France or Atleti. If anything it was directed at our fans, it was 2 days before the 4th of July after all. Anyways, don’t understand the need to be searching for a deeper meaning or controversy, it’s a game winner in a World Cup semifinal and she can celebrate as she sees fit. Don’t want her to? Keep her from scoring. I’m not a big fan of Ellen White’s celebration, but she’s damn good, scored, and got to do her thing. |
If they (her) can't handle criticism then get off the World stage. Athletes get criticized for less. The celebration was a taunt. Has she had a history of sipping tea as a part of her normal goal celebrations? No. Was it a terrible celebration? No. But as stated earlier, they are now front page news and with it comes the fish bowl and the microscope. If they think this is scrutiny try media week during the Super Bowl. The biggest problem with Morgan and Rapinoe at this point is their incredibly thin skin over it all. They deserve to be paid MORE than the USMNT but this is what comes with it. So while true, "if you don't wan the celebration don't let her score" the counterpoint is, "if you can't stand the criticism then stay home". |
Some fortnite dance do and other do not. It would have been cool if fortnite and one of the US women’s player came up with a celebration dance and had it in fortnite the next day. |

Oh for Pete's sake. Even Piers Morgan realized he was wrong to be so sensitive to the goal celebrations:

And Alex Morgan was wrong for even giving the criticism audience and in particular doing so with what-aboutism. There will be criticism, some valid some not valid. Grow thicker skin and don't take the bait on petty stuff. Also don't do petty stuff in the first place. |
All of this still. LOL 5-0 |
Meh. I think she's not the one who needs a thicker skin. |
