Getting into St. Albans

Even kids with high WPPSI scores end up having learning disabilities or other issues. Or they are kids who just won't fit well into the STA/NCS culture...who need more flexibility and freedom. These are schools that, over time, weed out kids who aren't doing well, not schools that differentiate the learning and make accommodations for kids who struggle.

I agree. I know of one boy that didn't get into STA because his processing speed on his WPPSI was really low. Also, he had low test scores in general. From what I'm hearing, 6th grade is the year that the wedding out begins.

ERB questions.

1) How much weight does STA give to these, if at all.

2) Could those who were accepted at STA post their kid´s ERB scores, please.

Does any one know how low the ERB scores can be for STA and NCS to take someone

There does not seem to be the same obsession about "Getting into NCS"?

Is this a form of sexism, would such a discussion be just redundant, or is the process just that much easier??!

Have any Beauvoir families heard from STA yet? I thought letters were supposed to go out this week.

Form c/b admissions testing is scheduled for Sat. 1/24 (according to STA's online calendar. The letters usually go out the following Monday after non-Beauvoir applicants test. If this is still the procedure, you may not receive your letter until about Tuesday 1/27.

Interesting. Is there a reason for that? In other words, is one tied to the other?

Not sure. Don't know if any Beauvoir families are waitlisted when the "Early Decision" letters are sent out this month.

Yes.

Back to the ERB scores question (sorry) (I am not the person who asked originally, but also curious). Can current STA/NCS families please share how your child did on second grade and third grade ERBs (and also if the child went to Beauvoir). Thanks very much!

Do non-Beauvoir applicants have to take and submit scores for the ERB. I thought only the STA-administered test was required for boys not coming from Beauvoir.

We are applying to 4th grade and we are only taking the test next Saturday. I wonder how many boys will be taking the test next weekend? We'll find out soon enough.

No, only Beauvoir apps have to submit ERB. Your son's school will probably submit the scores of other standardized tests that are annually administered along with his transcripts.

Good luck to your son.

Two wait-list questions:

1) Do Beauvoir boys really get waitlisted. I thought it was always a yes or no.

2) Is there a waitlist for everyone else? If so, is it a "real" wait-list, or one of those white-lie type wait-lists (a la GDS).
