I live in a town that was a former NORAD site. It is amazing how such threat shaped our society back then.

Reagan was president of his union, the Screen Actors Guild. He was a political pundit, giving speeches across the country that were sponsored by General Electric. He was the governor of California.

It wasn't like he starred in "Bedtime for Bonzo" and then ran for president. He had time to polish his credential in between. He was much more qualified to run for President than Donald Trump or Barack Obama.
