The students who need to pee, poop, change tampon should not have to work around smokers/drinkers/lounging around-skipping-class students. The smokers/drinkers/lounging-around-skipping-class ones can go outside. If these so called students can't go outside, staff needs to stand inside near the bathroom door checking IDs and they need to start doing so immediately!

They really aren't but if it makes you feel better to believe this sure.

Name one high school where this is not a problem.

Ignore this troll. Anyone who wants to believe HS bathrooms aren't a problem or that their school is exempt from the problem is living in Lalaland.

Our school is fine too. Sure, one and a while you may encounter some vaping but nobody cares.

I saw a post about bathroom SROs or BROs which sounded like a great idea!

Call them bathroom kings or queens, whatever. Just get a paid adult in there so students who actually need to use a toilet can do so without working around skipping class students hogging up space and lunch time loungers.

I hear the bigger stalls are taken up by multiple students and smells awful in the bathrooms from smoke and that the other smaller stalls are more open depending on which floor/area of school bathroom it is. And lack of TP and soap.

We need armed BROs protecting the bathrooms!

BROs, SROs, royals, angels, whatever title. School bathrooms need someone in there!

Any any of the mcps 6-12 schools doing anything about the bathrooms? Other than tlalkkng about bringing back SROs or increasing number of CEOs, what other options have been explored?

RMHS "talked" about using some device to prop the door opens. I have no idea what happened to that.

They supposedly have security and admin spot checking the bathrooms, but DC tells me all of security is usually on the lower floors. They locked the upper floor bathrooms.

So, basically, it's just lip service, and their version of addressing the issue is to lock the bathrooms.

Opening the outer doors backfired because it drove all the kids into the stalls, which made it even less likely to get an actual toilet. But I had heard it was somewhat better with the additional security placed near bathrooms. If they could double their security staff, they could probably open all the bathrooms.

I will say that I went to volunteer last year and had no problem getting a bathroom near the auditorium but my kid said that one is basically always open.

yes, that one is always open because it's on the first floor and near the auditorium.

The first floor bathrooms are open because that's where the admin hang out. It's the upper floors that have the issues. Apparently, security rarely goes up there.

How about dogs to snif out students who are not in there for bathroom's intended purposes. Look to Loundon county.

Ha! You think students will listen to an adult. Anytime I try to reprimand a kid per school protocol they get right up in my face and tell me “Did that feel good sending that email?”

Kids today are mean and nasty. They have spent their whole lives so far being allowed to do whatever they want without consequence. Many of their parents aren’t much better
