Secondary school BATHROOMS

Have you completed the parent survey? Any room on the survey to comment on bathroom issues (as if they don't already know what the issues are)?

Late to this post.. but wanted to add that our 10th grader walked into a bathroom the other day at his HS and there were two kids having sex in one of the stalls... He obviously walked right out and didn't seem too disturbed... but I cant imagine if our middle child went through this.. He would definitely develop anxiety over the bathroom situation (a W HS just for context)

As inappropriate as this is, I think sex in high school spaces is not new.

I'm much more concerned about drugs, stabbings, gun violence, robberies and assaults happening in MS/HS bathrooms.

As inappropriate as this is, I think sex in high school spaces is not new.

I'm much more concerned about drugs, stabbings, gun violence, robberies and assaults happening in MS/HS bathrooms.

So am I. However, I am sharing that to add and not forget about another reality happening in the HS bathrooms due to lack of adequate supervision. You as an adult may not be as concerned about it but many kids may feel incredibly uncomfortable if they see this happening. I mean, its SHOULD not be happening in the school bathrooms! Imagine finding coworkers having sex in the office bathroom...

I heard some kids last year were drunk in a bathroom, and at some W's, kids were being chased around the school parking lot by another student with a knife! Parking Lots are super dangerous now too! If only they could hire armed SROs to protect our toilets.

My Einstein kid reports that the situation is annoying, but workable once you figure out which bathrooms are open. Lines get long at lunch, but there’s plenty of time.

Before the current closings, she’d seen a bit of vaping and sometimes smelled weed, but nothing violent or extreme. Mostly just people hanging out skipping class.

Bathrooms are problem in all HS, even if you haven't heard about it from your own child. The students who need to pee, poop, change tampon should not have to work around smokers/drinkers/lounging around-skipping-class students. The smokers/drinkers/lounging-around-skipping-class ones can go outside. If these so called students can't go outside, staff needs to stand inside near the bathroom door checking IDs and they need to start doing so immediately!
