I spent a few days at UCF a short time ago. It seems to be one of the few large universities that was designed to be huge right from the start. It’s got a big student center in the middle, surrounded by academic buildings, then a bunch of parking garages. Outside of that are sports facilities & dorms. They did a masterful job at making a huge campus feel manageable & convenient. Students seemed happy & friendly. Also saw USF, FAU, & FIU, but not while classes were in session. They all had nice campuses. FAU looked especially nice. I can see it rising in popularity in the near future. |
College age girls should have pill, implant or mini-IUD. You cannot rely on condoms only as a young woman as a contraceptive. If for medical reasons none of these work, Plan B is available in FL without a prescription. |
It's irresponsible to suggest medications with non-zero side effects just in case a woman is raped. |
Don’t forget the HazMat suit. |
NP Maybe to you. To me, it’s extremely smart. |
Me too. |
You are way overdramatic. Shands hospital is not closing, 92% of Floridians are vaccinated (yes, that is considered low and should definitely be higher but it's not NO VACCINES), science and math are still being taught in schools. A lot of bad things are happening in FL, to be sure. But it's nowhere near as bad as you describe. |
As horrendous as it is to be a woman in this world and have to worry about being raped (1/3 college age women will experience sexual assault) constantly, it is certainly not irresponsible to prepare yourself or make sure your daughter is prepared just in case. In fact, it is the opposite. It is irresponsible NOT to have some type of preventive birth control in place. |
What does this have to do with being raped? |
It is immoral and reprehensible that you would suggest young women in college be on birth control to prevent against some man thinking he has the right to have sex with her, against her consent, rather than focusing on preventing those rapes to begin with. And focusing on the behavior of young men that makes them think they can do so. |
You can be raped anywhere. It's not more prevalent in FL than in other schools. It makes sense to at least protect yourself from becoming pregnant if you are raped by having preventive birth control in place. |
|
Are Florida admissions easier now because liberals are avoiding the state ?
No, just better. |
No, it's just common sense. I've been raped. Of course in an ideal world, we would as a society be focused on preventing rape to begin with. But that is unfortunately not the world we live in. If I could single-handedly change that I would. But neither you nor I nor any other individual can prevent men from raping women. It makes sense for women to protect themselves from pregnancy. |
You can do more than one thing. You can focus on men's behavior and preventive measures to prevent rapes. And you can also focus on access to birth control/abortion just in case you are in fact raped. As someone who was raped in college, I support both because I am a practical person who realizes that as much as I might advocate and fight for measures to prevent rapes from happening, they still will happen. |

UF has the highest paid law enforcement officer out of college campuses in the state a Lesbian Woman who is chief of police.
Does your local college have a Lesbian Woman in charge of security? Families are moving to Florida in droves. |
