I don't think they will lose as many as people think they will. Coppermine may not have the most glorified history, as compared to others, but a top 2 team in the country is a top 2 team in the country. Top college coaches will be on their sideline regardless of the name on the front of the jersey. They also do have a solid history with some good D1 commits.

I agree. Feels like that club is putting a lot into the 2028 team and they have some spectacular players. Maryland boards are pretty obsessed with criticizing their style of play, and substitution strategies, but they seem to be pretty effective as a team. Guessing that if they can come close to their level of play from the last two years this season, that the team's core will hold together.

Great group of kids. Will be interesting to see how this NGLL season goes. If they have a good run as expected I think they will stay together for the most part. There will be some attrition but that is to be expected.

No reason for any players getting significant playing time to leave. Those who don’t play much may seek other alternatives

Absolutely. Very talented players on that team who do not always see the field. That seems to be the chief knock on Coppermine ‘28 is that they play the same kids for the vast majority of the game. Have no idea if that is true as DD team only plays a couple times a year.

Not unique to Coppermine. Many MD clubs favor the starters.

Yes, I hear FCA rides their starters all day. Good point.

1. All four are great clubs.
2. Once Stars and Pride merged into Capital, they improved every year.
3. Who will the coaches be for all of the28 teams? Do the current coaches stay with the 28s all the way through?

I would not agree that Pride and Stars are great clubs if everyone is clamoring to leave in 8th grade. Capital has a great track record and virtually no one leaves Hero’s after 8th grade so clearly those two are great clubs.

Last I heard on the previous thread was that the Stars ‘28 coach will be the Cap ‘28 coach.

Wrong. The Capital 25 coach will be the Capital 28 coach. He does help out occasionally with Stars, but is not their coach

The nuance of "helping out" with the Stars 28s, but not being the coach--when he seems to be the most significant presence on the sideline--is not obvious to those not in the Stars orbit. But it has been explained in strong terms before on this thread, usually punctuated by IYKYK guy.

Not quite. He was a very part time assistant coach and came when he was able to be there.

The top ones do this when games are tight against other top 10 teams. When games are well in hand, time is spread around.

I suppose Pride would put their second stringers in against M&D late in a close game? Gold lord. NoVA parents.

Actually, the 27 Pride Red team used to do that all the time.

Capital does not do this. It’s equal time, regardless of competition or score.
