For those of us that can’t read into this and figure it out for ourselves can you politely share some info about programs that lose girls? I have a DD applying to high schools soon and would like to know what she might be signing up for. Not all parents understandably want to be openly critical of their programs so it’s not as easy to find this out on your own.

Recently, kids have transferred into GC, SR, BI and out of SR, Potomac, and some publics. That's not all obviously.

You really have to watch games and how the coaches operate, particularly in tough games. Some coaches offer you to come join and watch a practice.

Kids are transferring into Potomac for the second year in a row, and also into SJC. Lots of reasons to transfer. I wouldn't suggest there is a sending group and a receiving group.

No one has transferred into SJC.

Two have transferred into visi from Holy Child and public last year

Incorrect, SJC has a transfer. Assume the girl doesn’t want to publicize it during season.

My mistake. I was looking at the varsity roster only and not the JV roster where I do see a transfer.

You are still incorrect

If someone is trying to make a point, can you just get on with it? WTF.

Heard the same thing from a Yorktown parent when they scrimmaged last week to a one goal game. Apparently they also stalled at the end for over three minutes. Guess she did not want to lose to a public school in a scrimmage

Maybe she wanted to practice a tactic she uses during the year during a time when she needed it? My kids go to another ISL school so this is not about protecting my coach - she uses the rules to her advantage and I think that's good coaching. ISL coaches should be trying to figure out how they will defend against her 4-Corner Offense because they can do it forever. My guess is that she also doesn't care that parents from other schools in the WCAC ISL Outlook forum don't think she should do it.

SSSAS is pretty well known for the stall.

The SJC community has been very kind not to share details on DCUM about the way DCSAA was mishandled last year, along with a host of other leadership missteps that occurred last season. Parents are well aware of what happened but have stayed silent out of respect for the coach as a person. Before that changes, the coach might be better served by looking inward, listening to the feedback she is being given, and doing things differently this year.

What needs to be done differently? Maybe they just don’t have the talent? Better recruiting? The boys team seems to do it well.

To be fair, things are different at SJC this year. DCSAA participation is now part of SJC’s regular season; the decision is no longer up to the coach. Parents last year questioned why the team didn’t play in big tournaments that attract some of the best teams in the country (Spooky Nook, Spring Fling, Florida spring break); this year they are.

But larger questions remain. Can the coach inspire this team? Can she lead them? Can she tough-love them? Is she capable of pushing them beyond their comfort zone? Will winning be the focus - or will player feelings be the priority? SJC had stronger / more experienced talent last year, but until she confronts some of these issues, and takes a different approach than last year, regardless of what talent she has, expect more of the same.

Yes. One goal game.

DMV private schools still don’t use a shot clock?

Still only IAAM. Bottom of WCAC/ISL not really good enough and those are the coaches keep voting against it, according to our coach. It doesn't benefit them at all because they typically need longer possessions.

That’s unfortunate. Stall ball shouldn’t be a tactic at this level.

Agreed, stall at varsity is dumb. Really wish shot clock could be instilled.
