Why should Omar not lose everything and his family has gotten through his illegal activities to reimburse his victims?

Yup. In fact the first case is June 1st so I think Amr is going to be in and out of courtrooms all month.

They filed 15 felony cases. Multiple felony charges of over $100,000 which can have a sentence of up to 20 years. Will be very interesting how much time he gets when all is done but it this is not shop lifting. It also shows intent based on the number of victims over 2 to 3 years. It was not just a misunderstanding with a couple of customers it appears to have been a coordinated effort.

Does anyone know what cases are being prosecuted criminally in Montgomery County? I want to know if my case is included in the criminal proceedings. My husband and I have never been contacted by the State’s Attorney Office.

Look here:

And look up Amr elrahimy in the search. If it looks like yours contact mhic with the case number and they'll put u in touch with the right people. Also there is a super helpful Facebook group called victims of optimum construction made up of fellow victims. We can chat more if u get through there.

Best of luck!

Just a heads up but there are 8 felony cases in Silver Spring, 4 in Rockville, and 3 in Howard County. The money ranges pretty drastically so you would have to click through the different case numbers and I suspect there will be more to come.

Do these types of cases generally result in fines, jail times or a combination of both?

Is anyone other than Omar/Amr under suspicion/investigation…his two in-house accountants/bookkeepers, the guy in sales, the project managers who were supposedly in charge of getting materials ordered and projects done? You would kinda think all these people had some idea…

At this point we do not know who is cooperating to potentially avoid being a target or who may already be a target. Omar was the head and the easy, initial target. Who else becomes involved may depend on who Omar drags in or who may offer up information to avoid being named. Previous comments have made it sounds like there were people aware and even communicating to clients as things were crumbling. At this point all of this is being collected authorities. The bankruptcy shed light on so much more and may result in other, including potential federal charges. This is far from being over. Suspect parts of this will go well into the fall.

Shoot i suspect this goes well into next year. With all the money involved, the number of victims, Amr's delay tactics, Amr tossing so many of his friends and relatives under the bus, and that growing network of fraudsters i can see this even going on for a few years.
