No matter your politics, no one has an issue with this? The police taking stuff just to see if anything is there? Wow.

They get a search warrant from the courts, dummy. Which means they had to show probable cause that a crime was committed (like stealing 15 boxes of classified material, then not returning all of it).

Irony: if a “Trump judge” issued the search warrant 😆

If you have not forgotten. Judge's rulings are not supposed to be influenced by their politics/sponsor.

If you have not forgotten, the FISA court was basically lied to....

Federal investigators - including the chief of the DOJ counterintelligence section - met with Trump's lawyers at Mar-a-lago in June and SAW MORE BOXES THERE. It appears that Trump was flat out refusing to turn over some documents, including some marked Top Secret.

In early June, a handful of investigators made a rare visit to the property seeking more information about potentially classified material from Trump’s time in the White House that had been taken to Florida. The four investigators, including Jay Bratt, the chief of the counterintelligence and export control section at the Justice Department, sat down with two of Trump’s attorneys, Bobb and Evan Corcoran, according to a source present for the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Trump stopped by and greeted the investigators near a dining room. After he left, without answering any questions, the investigators asked the attorneys if they could see where Trump was storing the documents. The attorneys took the investigators to the basement room where the boxes of materials were being stored, and the investigators looked around the room before eventually leaving, according to the source.

A second source said that Trump came in to say hi and made small talk but left while the attorneys spoke with investigators. The source said some of the documents shown to investigators had top secret markings.

Five days later, on June 8, Trump’s attorneys received a letter from investigators asking them to further secure the room where the documents were stored. Aides subsequently added a padlock to the room.

The White House must be so annoyed!

This hits right at the start of a very positive news cycle for them, after months and months of Manchin-scuttled bills, freefalling Presidential popularity, and staggering inflation... and just when FINALLY they can crow about the biggest climate change funding in the history of the USA, as well as healthcare reform. Man, I'd be so pissed!

I'm sure they're like: "Couldn't this have happened last month?!!!"

Exactly….all news cycles going to be focused on FBI raid and not on Biden’s “wins”.

For a awhile. News cycles, and attention spans, are very short now. And on Friday, the House will take up these big legislations.

It all adds to the positive news. Shock and awe, unloading all at once.

For anti-Trump people in the population, yes, but the White House wants air time to tout its well-deserved achievements, since it's practically the ONLY achievement, not too put too fine a point on it. Circles of interest overlap, but not quite in this instance, you see what I mean? I'm just putting myself in the shoes of all the WH staffers (as well as Biden) who've worked so hard on this bill and get the air sucked out by more Trump news...

What’s on the front page (web and paper) of every news organization this morning?

The FBI raid or Biden’s IRA legislation??

The GOP establishment does not want Trump to run again and they don't want him running against Desantis in a drawn out primary. Most of all though they don't want him running as an independent.

Melania! Who else on the inside is more loathe to have Trump back in White House? No one.

Does she even spend any time in WPB? I assume she stays in NYC and tries to avoid her putative husband.

The legislation didn’t pass yesterday so it’s going to be the search warrant (stop calling it a raid.)

I hope the Democrats know what they are doing here. For every action there is a reaction. To go after Trump like the way they are doing. It’s going to bite the current admin come next year. Just saying. 🌈

Even liberal news sources (ex: CNN) are referring to the “raid by FBI”. Keep up.

I hope Trump knew what he was doing when he took boxes of classified documents home. For every action there is a reaction. To break the law like he did, it's going to bite him.

Even Nancy Pelosi called it a “raid” this morning: “But all of this should be made known to us over time. But I have no knowledge of it. I do know that there has been chatter. More than chatter about the presidential documents and how they must be preserved for history. And let's see what the justification was for the raid. I just don't know," she added.’
