I don’t remember which tweet (or on reddit?) I read it on, but someone said pretending this isn’t a huge, future-altering thing is like saying nothing changed when the first plane hit the WTC. It is just possible that Trump actually being properly investigated for one (or several? God knows how many felonies that traitor commit just while in office) of his many crimes is the inflection point that will bend the arc of justice the correct way.

And Trump was the one who got the word out. So, he must be running scared and is trying to whip up everyone to come to his defense. (And even his most ardent supporters must be getting tired of defending him.).

It seems unlikely that this is “just” that he packed up classified docs when he left the White House because then surely he would have just handed them back. Why save classified docs??

They've already retrieved/he's already handed back many boxes of classified docs over the past few months. But apparently there were more that they wanted, or wanted to make sure that he had, or hadn't given away.

That fatigue increases as his likelihood of being a person of influence again recedes. It's a self-perpetuating change.

A judge (appointed by trump) signed a search warrant. Care to predict the reason a judge will one day sign a search warrant of Biden’s home?

This hits right at the start of a very positive news cycle for them, after months and months of Manchin-scuttled bills, freefalling Presidential popularity, and staggering inflation... and just when FINALLY they can crow about the biggest climate change funding in the history of the USA, as well as healthcare reform. He has floated the idea of running for office in order to deter prosecution, right? And my understanding -- but IANAL -- is that there are restrictions on what can be done if one is the seated POTUS.

Is there a good reason not to hold that if an investigation is already established and clearly ongoing, merely running for office won't deter that (but if and only if you win, that would put anything on hold)?

Does that run afoul of any law or regulation?

It's not that hard. An example is that to prosecute someone for child porn they do a search warrant to confirm the devices and address the porn was transmitted from. If secret documents were transferred, they may be looking at devices and access. I can think of several cases where "the FBI took nothing." Usually, they take computers but often they just download from the device. If the inventory from the search warrant is released, it will be easy to interpret. Usually in a case that will go to a grand jury it's not released. Don't make the mistake of thinking nothing was discovered.
